I have the equipment listed below. I've been doing FTA for about a week. I've never really got it functioning like it is capable. The Extremeview Magnum gives a great picture and menus seem easy enough. The dish is standard, motor seems to work fine, the Quad I assume is supposed to be great and finally, I've been using a 4X1 switch that says 2.0.
I'm so aggravated at this thing.......I'm wondering  if one of my darn cables are bad....or maybe my alignment is off a little...again. I've checked the alignment and it may be off just very little....but I was getting a 92 on 119 before...and would just be in the ballpark. The settings in my receiver, when I can get a sat, are nothing like what they are supposed to be. I can be getting some pictures at night...and in the morning, I turn it on and get nothing. My quality goes from like 75 to 25. None of the sats I was first getting are not working either. I had found a bunch of stuff on....148, 119, 110 and even Galaxy 10 Linear..but then everything changes, and I get nothing again. The sat settings are not what they are supposed to be either. I thought Circular was supposed to be 11,250 and Linear 10,750 on standard lnbs...the mag don't have "standard" it says "single." I've also had to use universal some too! A couple of times I've got a signal with C @ 11,250 but it would last. It was like I would lose it. None works regularly and I've actually gotten reception on 5100's. Will not pickup at the freq its supposed to be. I've been trying for quality I know that's what is important - turns it green, not signal.
Here's what I've tried; All configurations of the switch. All lnb types. All ports on the switch and receiver. All freqs. Setting switch to 1.0 Auto and 1.1 trying them all!(BTW - theres no setting for 2.0 like is marked on the switch, does that matter?) Moving from one to the other in all options. Then I bypassed the switch and went to the motor from each..C and L on the lnb. Then...after moving to for instance to E7 bypassing the motor and going straight to the lnb. After all that...still the same old crap!
If I can't get this thing going, knowing that I've had a good pic before (eventhough the settings have never been perfectly what they were supposed to be), I may be forced to commit SATICIDE! lol
Seriously, I would appreciate any and all help you could suggest. I told my boss (wife) this morning, as I was being late to work fiddling with this thing, "I will not let an inanimate object beat me!" I will be victorious......I hope!
Any suggestions that don't include the other kind of magnum (44 cal)?

Welcome to Satellite Guys!

1. Please provide your zip code and let us see what dish seetings you will need.
2. First try with out your motor and styore some channels in the recvr. Then you can add on motor and switches.
3. For motor pole needs to be pefectly plumb.
4. If switch is used select it as 1 and not 1.1
5. What were you getting on 92 and 119? It is easier to lock on to those birds. So you should know the general direction by now for aiming the dish for your true south.
Goodluck :)

My exact Lattitude is 34.6N and Longatude is 87.4W. I've been using mostly 1.0 and automatic for switch setting. Most of the time it will not find anything. I am going to re-check my pole for plumb this evening. My cable run is 100 ft but as I said, I have been getting 94 with sat 119...sometimes. It's driving me crazy!

Thanks for all your help!

What satellites are you aiming for?

We always suggest removing the motor and any switches and try to find and store a few satellites FIRST! makes life a lot easier!

Here are all the angles to the satellites from your area, elevation angles are WITHOUT a motor!

Your TRUE south satellite is AMC-3 @ 87ºw

Use only one Linear output of the Invacom QPH-031 and set the L.O. to 10750 and LEAVE it there, as this is the correct LNB Freq. (L.O.)

If things don't get straightened out, unplug the receiver and re-read all the installation instructions and operators manuals. Maybe you missed a step somewhere. Have fun.

PSB, he is at 87 degrees Long. not 97. So, wouldn't his True South sat be AMC3?
grusome

Is your LNB skewed correctly? You may have to go out to the dish, loosen the LNB clamp and rotate the LNB. Considering the size of your dish, and your location, you will have to do this to pick up all the channels on g-10 r.

Thanks much for the suggestions and help so far....Doesn't the motor take care of the skew? I dont think my winegard setup has the slots for adjusting skew. Does it matter which one of the linear outputs of the lnb I come out of?

My bad....I was thinking about like the back of a stationary dish....I get it, right now my invacom is set @ 12:00 straight up. What should it be set to if I dont use the motor?

The skew values for ALL the satellites (without motor) from your laction are listed above! (Post 4)
