1) Is there any reasonable way to edit recorded programs? Not thinking ads, but being able to edit out maybe 2 hours if content if a concert and saving an hour of it.

2) External drives for greater storage. Use of a SATA drive, I understand works. Anything special to know?

3) Capturing external broadcast signals with a digital antenna. We live in a concrete & steel condo facing south in Marina Del Rey (LA), CA. Broadcast antennas live on the mountains to the northeast if us above Pasadena. How can I get signals via my own antenna in case DirecTV is out? I suspect a rooftop antenna might be best? Could I use existing older coax that is no longer in use? If not available, is there any unobtrusive antenna I could use on my deck or by a window? Would a Radio Shack signal booster help?

1 - nope
2 - esata will replace the internal drive, so it is like starting over. it boots off one drive, the other is disabled.
3 - rooftop would be best, if you have any old coax running into the building it will likely work fine, nothing special is needed for OTA.
