Another option, is an USB Tuner. I use that for my OTA recording. If using Linux be sure that the dongle you buy works with linux, as not all do. Windows is not an issue with them.
I already have a Win PC with a TV tuner card. I just wanted to avoid the record, convert & store on network drive so I can view on main TV process. Was thinking of getting a receiver with built in OTA tuner later on.
I just replaced the old and big antenna on my roof with a new much smaller one. It was literally just laying on my roof. Anyway I found out that Archos on my Nexus Android TV will play wtv files so I'm good for now. Still don't like leaving the PC on so it'll record.
