OTA DVRs are available, there where some discussed here a while back I think.

I have the Homeworx with an external hard drive connected to it and use it to record OTA (in HD). Works great and the picture is superb.

Another option, is an USB Tuner. I use that for my OTA recording. If using Linux be sure that the dongle you buy works with linux, as not all do. Windows is not an issue with them.

I already have a Win PC with a TV tuner card. I just wanted to avoid the record, convert & store on network drive so I can view on main TV process. Was thinking of getting a receiver with built in OTA tuner later on.

I have the 500GB Magnavox and can record OTA, FTA and Dish with it.

I just replaced the old and big antenna on my roof with a new much smaller one. It was literally just laying on my roof. Anyway I found out that Archos on my Nexus Android TV will play wtv files so I'm good for now. Still don't like leaving the PC on so it'll record.
