This is meaningless... I am just goofing off and having fun!

BUT... I bet that all of you like it and can agree with what I say.

I am planning a canoe trip down the Platte River in Nebraska as a sort of "reunion" for the "red necks" as well as everyone that we went to school with from Kindergarten on through College.

We used to call ourselves "The River Rats". Now we have all grown up (except me) and got married (except me) and settled down (except me) and forgot how much fun life is (except me)! Ha Ha Ha! No, I won't quit... Life is just too much fun to give up now.

All my friends are grey and tired and fat and old. I don't mind being grey or old, but I won't be fat and tired! I'm going to the party!

Sounds like fun....Life is too short not to have as much fun as you can. At almost 52 I still refuse to grow up lol...my wife and both kids can attest to that....Blind

Red Neck Yacht Club

I'm meeting my buddies out on the lake...
We're headed out to a special place, WE LOVE!
...that just a few folks know.

There's no signing up, no monthly dues
take your Johnson, your Mercury or your Evinrude and fire it up!
...meet us out at party cove...

...come on in, the waters fine

just idle on over and toss us a lime!

Bass Trackers, Bayliners and a party barge,
strung together like a floatin' trailer park
anchored out and gettin loud!

All summer long!

Side by side there's five houseboat front porches
astroturf, lawn chairs and tiki torches.
Regular joes rocking the boat

That's us!

"The Redneck Yacht Club!"

Bermudas, flip-flops and a tank top tan... He popped his first top at ten a.m.,

Thats BOB!!

He's our president.

We're checking out the girls on the upper deck rubbin' in 15 spf...

IT's HOT!

everybody's jumpin' in

later on when the sun goes down
we'll pull out the jar and that old guitar
and pass'em around

Bass Trackers, Bayliners and a party barge,
strung together like a floatin' trailer park
anchored out and gettin loud!

All summer long!

Side by side there's five houseboat front porches
astroturf, lawn chairs and tiki torches.
Regular joes rocking the boat

That's us!

"The Redneck Yacht Club!"

when the party's over and we're all alone
well be making waves
...in a NO wake zone!

Bass Trackers, Bayliners and a party barge,
strung together like a floatin' trailer park
anchored out and gettin loud!

All summer long!

Side by side there's five houseboat front porches
astroturf, lawn chairs and tiki torches.

BlindOwl,

You said it my friend! You MUST stay young in spirit to keep your body young! I used to say to myself when I was in Junior High and High School that I never wanted to "grow up". It wasn't that I was concerned with "growing old", I just never wanted to lose my passion for living, if you get my drift. Now I understand how right my attitude was back then. I guess I didn't understand what it meant until I did actually live it.

Well, I may be getting older, but I haven't stopped being a kid! I love it! I like climbing trees and fishing and boating on the river! I want to keep on doing it!

Dang! I need to get Tee-shirts printed up for everyone that goes on the trip!

In years to come, I'd like to take a trip on every river in Nebraska. Did you know that Nebraska has more miles of rivers than any other state? Well, that's what they tell me.

And... Nebraska isn't all as flat and bland as you think. We have beautiful waterfalls and white-water rapids on some rivers, too. Just no Niagra Falls and no Colorado Rivers. The Niobrara River is great to kayak and canoe! Come on over some time, you'll love the people and the time spent. Nebraska isn't what you percieve it to be. You want home town friendly? Come stay a week with a total stranger here and you will feel that you have known a Nebraskan all your life, like an aunt and uncle out on the farm!

Our Game and Parks commission doesn't promote our state very well for tourism, but we do have lots of resources here, besides sand and corn, cows and a long, boring interstate that lets you see lots of corn and cows! You want to have fun in Nebraska? Get off the interstate highway and take the backroads. Well, better stick to the paved highways. Some of our backroads require a 4 WD jeep, don't get off on the minimum maintenance roads! Those are for local traffic only (Farmer Bob and Ted Turner). Stay on the blacktop roads if you are new here. Drive slow at night because the deer will eat your car or truck. I "ain't" kidding about that. There are so many deer here that I have to wait for them to cross the road to turn into my driveway. I am not talking about three deer, I mean thirty or fifty or more! I live by the river so that attracts them. I have had a deer in my garage once. There are so many deer, I would not be suprised to see a couple of them on my porch swing! And I don't even HAVE a porch swing! The deer are so thick here that they would probably hire someone to install a swing!

Why am I sounding like a tourism (or an insurance) agent? LOL! C'mon in, the state is open!

That sounds like fun! :D

Just wondering if you gave any thought on how you are going to get back?

A canoe trip up the river???

Oh! I like that Pedro! :)

Let's start a fun contest here... Just for giggles, this is only a thread for fun, but let's see who has the best slogan for "old-timers" taking a "youth-trip" out on the river! If you are interested, make something up and we'll fly it up the flagpole. It'll be just a little excursion to escape winter for some of us who are hoping for winter to end soon.

Rules... The slogan must relate to river float/canoe trips, getting old, feeling young, drinking beer, being a redneck... etc. I might just use your slogan! :) The first entry by Pedrogarcia is going to be difficult to beat! So you better think hard! LOL
