Mercury II questions

I bought a "new" Mercury II. Inside the box was the receiver, a remote, and a user manual. Don't cables or anything else come with it?

What is the signal quality threshold for a Merc II? (eg, 63 on a CS 5k)

Does the latest firmware upgrade do anything worthwhile? (2007-07-16)

Hi,
I've been using the same receiver now for a few months. it's a good receiver but it takes some getting used to.
Great for scanning.
No the firmware from 07 is fine, it's the most recent. remember you can always add new satellites with it if necessary.
As far as cables, etc., if I remember right, I found my own RCA cables or you can use component if your tv has the inputs for it.

By the way, the clock on mine is forever running 10-15 mins. behind. No biggie.

Not sure about the signal threshold number but mine reads lower than some rec, it'll work just fine though. I used the one I got for a day or two with the old software that came in it, then loaded the newest file, couldn't really tell much difference in how it scanned. They don't have release notes with upgrades but seems I read someplace that the last file improved how it works with a diseqc switch. I find I have to call the satellite from the sat-list again after I blind scan a sat, annoying but it will sort the channels by satellite, and the preview mode works like it should too. Read the long Merc2 thread in the review section if you haven't already, good info.

Signal threshold is 30. Should be rock solid above that number. Mine is my primary blindscan machine.

What is the latest version # of the latest file? I will have to do that too. I have never yet updated any firmware on any of my STB’s but the CNX. So far, they are “straight out of the box” firmware. I really have not had any need to do this to the boxes I bought so far but my CNX box.

was on it and I can’t say enough how much that box was screwed up out of the box when trying to use it! It done very annoying things that any user would have thrown the darn thing out the window on! Got it back to latest factory version 6.13 now and those problems fixed themselves! I might go ahead and get the one for the Mec II even though I have not had any problems with it thus far!

V1.53 is the newest they have for the Merc2. Seems to work ok, no idea how the motor control part of it works yet, but I have one coming (DG380 from Sadoun).
