MEXICO CITY
Hi

I need feedback from people around in Mexico,we have lost several even transponders that have moved to Echostar 14,like 8,12 9 and some other transponders are gone. in Mexico City.

¿Do you have any information about the kind of signal your are getting around Mexico?

Thank you

Sometime ago, when the forum posted the first eirp maps for ECHO 14, we saw a massive reduction of the coverage for Mexico and below. You have to post your dish size. Its possible that if you change your antenna from 6 to 8/10 foot you can regain these signals. But test has to be done before any recommendation.

Be aware that the odd tp will be migrating sometime next week. So the entire programing for this sat will be unavailable to you on Mexico's Capital.

Although they have a good reason to do this (make a tight coverage of CONUS and PR and less bleed over) I suspect also that this has to do with DISH business in Mexico.

Still alive in Guanajuato, Guanajuato, but just barely.

All transponders now on E*14 went from 60-70 before the flip, to 10-20 after. Signal is still usable at 15+. Strength has dropped to below 15 on few during the day but I would expect them to come back tonight or in the morning and then drop off in the afternoons if things stay consistent.
I am trying to locate a 2.4 meter. Fingers crossed that I can get most of the loss back with that.

My current setup
Location: Guanajuato, Guanajuato Mexico
Dish: 1.8 meter offset Mexican made bought locally
LNB: Dual LNB DirecTV branded

Mexico City here. DISH 250

I am missing Nickelodeon and a few local NY channels. Univision Channel 014 also gone.

That was probably their intent by reducing the coverage area with E14. Like Tivimac mentioned, this probably has to do with the Dish Network service in Mexico.

INFO

To bad there are tons and tons of paying subscribers, downhere.
We are going to miss the network channels from New York in transponder 20.

Take Care

It's still there but you need an antenna that is good for an EIRP of 32.5 for a decent signal in the city.- At least a 3 meter and maybe a bit bigger.

The FEC will change on the CONUS transponders around the middle of June...so if you have 10-15 now I'd expect almost zero after that change.

They aren't cutting the signal strength, just cutting by the forward error correction rate since the signal is higher in the states and they can gain more bandwidth.

Wel felas i live in Mexico City and ias soon as i knew about the satellite changes last year i ran to buy an 8´ by 9´feet dish.

that dish has de 110 as the mail lnb and with a multi lnb that i got from Ebay i put the 119 to the right of the first lnb.

My signal was not as strong as it could be using a second large dish but it was good, so as of today the signal has been starting to change, this are my numbers, i wrote on the right of each TP the actual mumber i got

119W Echostar14 with eagle aspen lnb:

01-0 - 0
02-59 - 0 (gone)
03-0 - 0
04-56 - 0 (gone)
05-0 - 0
06-57 - 61 gone up
07-0 - 0
08-58 - 0 (gone)
09-0 - 0
10-0 - 61 appeared
11-54 - 27 went down
13-59 - 61 Up
14-55 - 59 Up
15-57 - 36 down
16-60 - 0
17-56 - 59 up
18-55 - 57 Up
19-58 - 35 down
20-56 - 0
21-59 - 62 up

As you can see we have lost 4 TP won 1 thaty has the same channels that tp 2 had, 3 went down and 6 increased thier power.

at the end i haven't lost as many channels as i thought so i'm happy, let's wait until june when the transition ends if this is goin to be a problem for us or we will have to sart using large dishes, The time of using 18" dishes in Mexico City is gone fellas only rich peopla would have dish US

cheers

5/19/2010: CONUS Transponders 8,9,11,12,15,16,19,20 are now coming from the Echostar 14 satellite.

Future:

Transponder 6,10,13,14,17,18,21 will move over to E14 on May24th AM.

On 6/10 a couple of CONUS TP's will move from 5/6 FEC to 7/8, the rest of them on 6/17. I suspect the few I have heard receiving a faint signal in Mexico will lose the lock on the signal with this FEC change.

The uplink reports and Dishchannelchart.com show tp 9 at 7/8 now. Is that correct?
If so, then can we use that tp to gauge our reception of the rest once they switch them all in June?

Correct. But of course signal strength can vary from transponder to transponder.

If 8,9,11,12,15,16,19,20 are now coming from the Echostar 14, why am I getting some of these transponders like 19, 11 etc and not 20, 12..?

Where did you buy your dish? Mexico or US? I dont need the specific vendor but would like to know its origin.
Is it made in Mexico?
Offset?
fiberglass?

8x9? Is that some kind of elliptical? Never come across one that big. Do you have a link or name to search on?

Next moves are scheduled for May 24th.

Moving cities include

New York (to TR1)
Hartford (to TR3)
Houston (to TR 5)
Houston (to TR 7)
West Palm Beach (to TR1)
Miami (to TR1)

Next moves after that will be on May 26th with a bunchmore local moves.

Think you answered it yourself... looks like you get the odds from E14 but not the evens. Could be a cabling issue...LNB...or quite possibly just different powers/footprints on the left hand and right hand transponders.

What is your satellite signal strength?
