Due to a wind storm back around Feb. 8, it appears our dishes got blown out of alignment so we've not had DISH programming since then.

We've been informed that there's nobody who services DISH here on Maui so the earliest DISH can send somebody here is next month on the 6th of March.

In the meantime, we've used our ROKU for whatever streaming services we have and hooked up an indoor antenna for local TV.

Today we started a trial for You Tube TV to at least get some programming for which we only have DISH subscriptions.

You Tube TV got good reviews when I did some searches -but- nothing beats the abilities of the Hopper!

A question - if it's the Hopper that needs to be replaced, is DISH supplying new or refurbs?

There are no new Hoppers available anywhere. Refurbs are like new and should not be an issue for you. Because you had a windstorm that misaligned your dish your Hopper is not likely to need replacement.

I thought there was a new hopper out(?)

How many dishes do you have (or need?)

That is concerning. Do you have an idea why they are not making new ones? Honestly, the Hopper3 is the only reason I haven't considered other services to reduce cost.

Why would they make new ones when they've got tens of thousands available from previous customers who moved on to streaming or other services?

I have one of the first Hopper 3s made. It is over 10 years old. It just keeps on ticking! They can refurb these units and they are just like new.
