I can see Salsa's point. You want a Marlin to replace a Marlin. But then what if the Marlin that replaces the Marlin screws another team out of a player from playing in the game?

I don't like the rule at all. They have taken some awful players and left out ones that deserved to be there. Unless they expand the roster by about 5 more players it should be done away with.

The NL and is spanking the games best pitcher. And the NL isn't even playing their best players.

Too funny, This morning on local radio they are calling it the "Curse of Kate Upton" JV has has been rumored to be dating her, and seeing them around town

I do not hate it, but not fond of it BUT it is a rule. IF you implement that rule, follow it.

Well if JV is dating Kate Upton, he wont care if he gave up 5 runs in the first inning. The guy has pitched 2 no hitters and might be dating her? Man, some guys have all the luck.

Just saw the MLB version of "Hard Knocks" on Showtime called "The Franchise: The season with the Miami Marlins". It was quite entertaining. The sequence of the night was the conversation between team president David Sampson and Ozzie Guillen. After Ozzie had a heart-to-heart talk with miserable failure so far in Heath Bell, assuring him the team and the franchise had his back.

Sampson: he has not pitched well. You aren't pitching him because we paid him $9 million dollars are you?

Guillen: that's not my f***ing fault you paid him 9 f***ing million dollars!

I LOVED IT!!

you mean you actually understood was Ozzie said? ;)

because Ozzie is similar to Tony Oliva...been in this country 35+ years and you still can't understand what the heck they are saying :D

It's funny that when there is a censor and he has watch his words...he tries to hard to make sense. When there is NO censor, and he's swearing up a storm...you actually see and understand what he's trying to say.

Seriously? You liked that, in an All Star game, one player hurt another one and effectively ended his career?

Just like Pete said, those people in the stands payed more for those tickets than the regular season ones so the deserve every player playing their hardest to win. It was a shame that Fosse got hurt for sure.

Personally, I think the MLB All-Star games are the ONLY ASG that actually play defense...and try to win. The rest are just exhibition games.

It sure is nice during the All Star break to read all of the POSITIVE articles re: what is expected from the Angels the rest of the way. It's pretty much decided that they've found their Mojo and a playoff spot is theirs for the taking IF they continue to play as they have the past 6 weeks. We shall see...

You already know how I feel about them, but if Haren and Santana can return to previous form to go along with Weaver and Wilson, and those young bats and Phat Albert.......there's no team in baseball that can touch the Angels!

Interesting concept for the All Star game by Jon Paul Morosi of Foxsports.

Soccer has perpetual international competition; ice hockey has an annual world championship. Even basketball, between the Olympics and world championships, has a major international competition every two years. In some form, baseball needs more frequent international play. The problem is that the sport's schedule includes so few natural pauses for such a tournament to take place. A Team USA vs. Team World matchup in an All-Star setting may not be a perfect solution, but it would intensify the discussion about where international baseball should go from here.

Besides, the presence of Team USA would attract casual fans intrigued by the chance to root for their country, rather than the league their favorite team happens to represent. While football has become America's most popular sport, it couldn't bring us a game of this sort with deep national subtext. Baseball can — and needs to embrace the possibility.

United States vs. the world at All-Star break would boost baseball's profile globally and be more important to players - MLB News | FOX Sports on MSN

I dunno...it seems that more and more all the MLB players want now is that guaranteed built-in 4 days off in July. I don't for one minute buy into Ian desmond's or C J Wilson's sudden "injuries". It's kinda sad.

Is this the 1st year that all of baseball gets 4 days off?

I know last year some teams played Thursday but didnt see anyone scheduled today
