OMG,Dodger Stadium is 50 years old? How can anyone still play in such an antiquated facility? They need to bull doze Fenway Park,Wrigley Field,& Dodger Stadium immediately & replace them with multi-billion-trillion dollar "sports palaces",each with retractable roofs-just because,& paid for with tax payer money, naturally. We got rid of Comiskey Park(& replaced it with Cellular Phone, oops,I mean Field),Tiger Stadium,& Yankee Stadium,we need to get rid of these anachronisms to modernity. Bud Selig needs to put out the word to these cities that they'll never host another All-Star Game(another anachronism) until they replace these abominations with new multi-billion-trillion dollar "sports palaces" just like Roger Goodell has laid down the law with cities hosting NFL teams who want to host the Super Bowl. I still remember when Wrigley Field didn't have lights & had to play all of their games during the daytime .

Look if we can build a real Starship Enterprise for only 1 trillion dollars BUILDING A REAL STAR TREK ENTERPRISE CAN HAPPEN FOR A TRILLION DOLLARS AOL On - Building a Real Star Trek Enterprise Can Happen for a Trillion Dollars ,why can't we build 3 new ballparks to replace Fenway Park,Wrigley Field,& Dodger stadium:rant:?

yup
Gotta love how the Twins play the same amount of games against the Brewers (in the other league) as they play the Rays (in the AL) and one less game than they play the other teams in the AL East

But Bud thinks this helps the leagues
So I'm sure Detroit/Pittsburgh, The Mets/Toronto and Cincy/Yankees are very intreging to watch according to him

Actually they are. ;)

Nice gesture by the Yankees. They played a Donna Summer recording of God Bless America at the seventh inning stretch.

Detroit/Pittsburgh: No-hitter thwarted in the 9th on Friday, game won basically single-handedly 4-3 by McCutchen on Saturday. I'd call that intriguing so far.

The much vilified. chicken eating, beer swilling, Red Sox starting pitchers have now pitched eight quality starts (6 innings, 3 runs) in their last ten games, and one of the two non-quality starts was a 6 inning, 4 run, 92 pitch winning outing by Lester.

Still, how can you have a caliope of five, Triple A or career utility outfielders when you have a payrol of $173 million?

St. Louis and the Dodgers will be playing during an 86% total solar eclipse very soon. How odd is that? When did this occur before (if ever)? It will be interesting to see how it shows on the broadcast vs. what it will be like outside the stadium here in Hollywood.

He said, "Cheer up. It could get worse" So I cheered up, and it got worse.

Cody Ross has broken bone in foot

BALTIMORE -- An MRI administered to Boston Red Sox outfielder Cody Ross in Boston showed a small fracture in the outfielder's left foot, manager Bobby Valentine said Monday.

The fracture is in the navicular bone, which is the same bone that Dustin Pedroia fractured on June 25, 2010. Pedroia eventually required surgery after an aborted comeback effort and missed a total of 85 games.

Ross, who was injured fouling a ball off the foot in his last at-bat Friday night, was en route back to Baltimore to join the team in time for Monday night's game.

According to the manager Ross will be available to pinch hit.

"He said he has one more hit left in him," Valentine said.

That could just be gamesmanship, though, given the risks involved.

Initial X-rays were negative, Valentine said, but Ross had been sent back to Boston for additional testing when he complained of continued pain.

Ross is expected to be placed on the disabled list Tuesday, when infielder Kevin Youkilis is expected to be activated, though Valentine did not confirm the DL move.

"These things have a way of working themselves out," he said.

Ross would become the sixth Red Sox outfielder to be placed on the disabled list, joining Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury, Ryan Kalish, Jason Repko and Darnell McDonald.

The outfield is now Nava, Byrd and McDonald, with reserves coming up from Triple A. I predict that either Youkilis of Gonzales will temporarily move to the outfield.

Lin is in center for the Red Sox tonight... but I read earlier today that the Knicks can match any offer... ;)

I just noticed that the three Red Sox outfielders last night, Nava, Byrd, and Lyn, batted seventh, eighth and ninth. I don't think I have ever seen a major league box score in which the three outfielders comprised the bottom third of the order.
