First, it's Strasburg. Second, his age has nothing to do with it. Recovery from the Tommy John surgery does. What I would rather see is the Nats having him skip starts here and there to stretch out his season rather than just shut him down...

If I was Stasburg I would say my arm was a little sore every other start.

They did the same thing before the TJ surgery, the kid has never been allowed to pitch a full season.

I know, but in order for him to pitch the post-season, he will need to miss some starts or it will be like the Reds back in 2010 with Mike Leake where he didn't get to pitch at all in the post-season because they shut him down early.

Never been allowed??

In 2010 he was called up to the majors in June and got hurt in August. In 2011, he came back early and pitched a handful of games in September. 2012 is his first full season. With their investment in him and his potential, I would be careful too....

Personally, this ownership pulled this trade off too quickly for THIS season. If they had traded Hanley BEFORE the season started, they would have gotten more for him. They also should have thrown Heath Bell INSTEAD of Randy Choate.

I have now heard rumors that they will not be trading Josh Johnson. We shall see...

...needless to say, this trade nor the trade to the Tigers the day before has NOT made the team better...regardless what the ownership says.

You'd think that the Dodgers would have learned their lesson in trading for a player last name "RAMIREZ." However,Manny did have the charisma to propel them into the playoffs his first season with them,I don't see Hanley having the same effect(of course,the Dodgers don't really need Hanley Ramirez to get them into the playoffs).

On the other hand...

Ramirez didn't run out a bases loaded, deep flyball to right that the fielder lost in the sun. Fortunately for Ramirez, it bounced into the stands fior a groundrule double. If it had not bounced into the stands, it would have cost him and his team a triple. What else is new?
