Looks like tonight the Giants will be the second team to clinch their division.

Congrats, Ramy! And congrats to both he Reds and the Nats.......two teams that are doing it the right way!

I went to that game yesterday. First time I have been to a division clinching game. Man was that exciting, especially when Chapman came in for the ninth inning after being out for at least 10 days.

Well, now that it's definite that the Mike & Jerry Show will continue for at least one more season in Anaheim, maybe we can all concentrate on the now 2 1/2 game deficit for the 2nd Wild Card spot. All of a sudden, the Angels are playing ball again. We'll see...

He'd be at 14-6 or something like that ...

Having to pitch against the AL is much tougher.
Not necessarily true. The balance of power has shifted to the NL. One can easily argue that the NL is a tougher league now. Plus in the AL the pitcher has the ability to stay in a longer in close games which gives him more opportunity to earn a win as he will not have to be removed for a pinch hitter if his spot in the order comes up late in the game with a chance to score runs.

Angels sweep the White Sox! I never saw that coming. Don't look now but the Angels are for once pitching well AND hitting very well! But...is it too late? They remain 2.5 games back of a playoff spot. Can they get past a roaring Baltimore club or those pesky, exciting Athletics in these final days of the season?

With 1 LESS POWER BAT ... hardly.

Then again you have Leyland that would use a Raburn or Laird as a DH, actually Laird has had a very good year at the plate.

Raburn played the entire 1st half of the season till he was hitting under .200 and they STILL left him in there until he went on the DL.
Theres a real good reason why the Tigers may not make the playoffs.

Thank you.

The Tigers are also fighting to get in and the Angels are HELPING the cause !!!

The rest of MLB had better hope that the Angels don't get in!

see previous posts.

AL has for years been the tougher league.
AL has the DH, the NL has the pitcher and a #8 hitter that usually isn't much better .

2011 St. Louis Cardinals Texas Rangers 4-3
2010 San Francisco Giants Texas Rangers 4-1
2009 New York Yankees Philadelphia Phillies 4-2
2008 Philadelphia Phillies Tampa Bay Rays 4-1
2007 Boston Red Sox Colorado Rockies 4-0
2006 St. Louis Cardinals Detroit Tigers 4-1

NL 4 of last 6 series? NL won last 3 all-star games?

Not really seeing the AL dominance.

DH is not an argument as it distorts comparisons and involves completely different strategies.

So ... because a team gets hot in the WS, that makes the LEAGUE the better one ?

This is why YOU like the AL...and not why it is supposedly better.
