Which makes it "not a salary cap".Technically MLB already Has a Salary Cap ... they just let those that don't mind paying more money to go around it ...

A true salary cap limits all teams to the same salary amount they can spend. The problem with that is some teams are still not going to spend whatever that limit would be. They actually need to have a salary floor too.Its a Luxury Cap
Needing to have a Floor is something they should be trying for as well.A true salary cap limits all teams to the same salary amount they can spend. The problem with that is some teams are still not going to spend whatever that limit would be. They actually need to have a salary floor too.
Here is the 2027 salary projection for each team.

$300 million dollar difference between the Dodgers and Nationals. Insane.
They are wanting the floor as well. I think their proposal was 175 millionNeeding to have a Floor is something they should be trying for as well.
Like was mentioned, chances of the Players ever agreeing is slim ... will government step in and screw this sport up as well ?
Details of MLB's proposed salary cap and floor systemThey are wanting the floor as well. I think their proposal was 175 million
Under the league's initial proposal, the 2027 salary cap -- a hard limit on how much a team can spend on its player payroll -- would be set at $245.3 million, while a salary floor -- the minimum each team would be required to spend -- would be set at $171.2 million.
No Club would be permitted to exceed the cap, while all 30 Clubs would be required to comply with the floor. On Opening Day 2026, 10 of the 30 Clubs would have fallen in between the proposed cap and floor.

My question is if they could get that passed how are they going to make teams (8 of them) that are already projected to be over that for 2027 to get down to $245.3 million before then? Especially the Dodgers who are already $125 million over that proposed cap. Are they just going to have to release/trade players that are pushing them that far over? I'll believe it when I see it. And then you have the bottom teams that would have to massively increase their payroll to get to the floor. For example the Nationals are about $100 million under that floor.
Getting the player's association to agree to it will be their biggest hurdle. Hence most likely either on strike or locked out next season. No fire sale, existing contracts grandfathered, all the restrictions would apply to new contracts going forward. Teams can be up to 10% under the floor but have to true-up over 2 years.
A lot to figure out and still being discussed w/ the proposal naturally.
Well, they did call it correctly, it was too high to catch, would have been Off the top of the wall and played probably into a Double and a Run did score after the Umps verified the situation.Wow, what is it with northern teams playing Florida teams in playoffs that make the fans want to screw over the home team and derail their playoff hopes? Twenty-three years ago was the Bartman incident at Wriggly Field, last night the Yankees get a similar result (although, to be fair, it looked like this ball was uncatchable, but how it played out could have led to an extra base).
