I played a lot of Hearthstone when it first got ported to iPad. I also played a little bit of it on PC. I don't know if things have changed since the expansion pack but at the time it was a fun, free game and it didn't feel pay-to-win. I never spent any real money and I could compete with other players I was matched against. They also had a pretty good progression for earning new card packs. I could earn a new pack every day or two and each one always had at least 1 good card.

I have never played any other card battle game (real or video game) so I can't compare it to things like Magic. I'd say it's worth checking out since it's free and can run on just about any PC. It really feels at home on iPad and I guess we'll see how it translates to a smaller phone screen.

Grim Fandango has been released for iOS and Android. It's on sale for the first week for $9.99, and will then go to the regular price of $14.99. The PSN and Steam versions are also discounted for this week.

Wow. I played a lot of Hearthstone when it came out but I've never spent a dollar of real money on it. Part of the thing I liked about it was that you could unlock good cards just by playing.

Usually these free app video game tie-ins are crap, but after watching the trailer, I can see myself getting into this.

I played it for a couple days when it first came out but there really wasn't much to it. It's amusing for a little while but it's not something you are going to get sucked into for weeks.

It's good to see such a quality free game that doesn't follow the pay-to-win model do so well in sales numbers.
