"Move" Question

I'm a long time lurker first post. I just "moved" from Charlotte, NC DMA to Greenville, SC DMA. It appears channels are on the same sat and transponder but I get an error screen that says something to the effect of local channels not available. It flashes complete signal loss then goes to that screen. Is there anyting I need to change in the set up? I thought it should just work from what I've read here.

well if you are on Eastern Arc (61.5/72/77) you're out of the spotbeam

The SD channels should work

SD channels are on 119 TP1
HD is on 61.5 TP1

Charlotte HD is on 61.5 TP11 and 129 TP7
SD is on 110 TP26

If you are on EA Columbia is on same spotbeam as Charlotte for HD

I am on EA. I'll move to Columbia area since those work in HD. Thanks for helping.

well otherwise go into the menu
(menu 6-1-1) and see what the signal is on the transponder I posted above (61.5 TP1)

OK did some more looking
The issue might be your actual location. You mention Charlotte so looking at the spotbeam maps on TP1 spotbeam is Richmond VA, Raleigh, and Greenville NC
On TP1 but a different spotbeam (coverage area) is Greenville, SC Chattanooga, Atlanta and Knoxville

Thats how spotbeams work. They can reuse the same transponder but in a different area.

so it may show signal on Tp1 but you're probably picking up the 1st batch above

Ok another question for you. I'm about to cancel E and switch to D and will want to do the same move. Will Greenville be available for me on D?

I do not know as I dont have maps for those...but I would hazard a guess and say probably not if you are in Charlotte
