I'm moving to a new apartment in a few weeks, and am losing my view of the southern sky. I've had Dish for a year now, and have been pretty pleased with the service. Next time I move it will likely be to a house, where I can put up a dish, and I'll likely want to sign back up with dish at that time.

Is there anything I can do/say when I terminate my service so I'll be eliigible for the "good" promotions down the road? I've read some things that say I can never be a "new" customer again, and I've read other things that say if I leave on good terms, and wait a certain amount of time, they'll consider me a new customer.

So what should I do? Also, how far in advance do I need to call to cancel? I've got almost a week of overlap between my leases, and want as little "down-time" as possible.

Also, a big thanks to everyone who posts here regularly. I've learned an incredible amount over the last year.
