"moving" with Directv help

What do I look for when "moving" locals with DirecTV? I'm in Northern Cali.

Obviously the locals you want to get have to be close enough for you to receive. What is your zip and what ones do you want to get? You have to give them an address in that area that isn't being used so that there isn't a conflict with an existing customer. Use 102 Main St if there is a 100 and a 104, something like that.

what are my options? LA? NY?

If you want NY or LA, you will only get the main four. They are on CONUS, but the others are on spot beams.
