Mtvhd ?

Why hasn't MTVHD played any videos in High Definition? I noticed that some videos are shot in wide screen with the bars above and below. Are they going to play any videos in High-Def soon?

They have a HD Videos program on over night. It appears to have HD, 4:3 HD, 4:3 SD and 16:9 SD that is boxed on all 4 sides.

Aspect ratios, so you mean letterboxing and pillar boxing.

Being SD or HD is about resolution, not the program's aspect ratio.

You can have letterboxed HD and SD presentations.

I think I may be able to speak on this somewhat. I work in post production in Nashville and we do a ton of country music videos that air on CMT, which is operated under the MTV Networks. Even though we do alot of HD work, I am still amazed at how few videos are still only done in SD. Now I know the budgets for country videos are less than Rock/R&B, so that might explain it some, but that is probably why there isn't alot of true HD videos on MTVHD because they aren't being supplied. just a guess.

The reason why you haven't seen HD videos on MTVHD is because they are not in HD yet. While the channel is there, Directv put that channel there as a place holder until they are able to broadcast in hd. Dont get MTV HD confused with MHD. Both channels are from MTV they are two separate channels.
