Hello Everybody,

Recently we upgraded our camera to a Sony SRG-A40 4K PTZ Camera because it supports 3G signal using 3G SDI extender. This great and all, but, upon switching to full 1080p 60hz the signal kept dropping resulting in a pixelated flashing screen. We are currently utilizing multi mode fiber. The distance between the points is around 600 meters which is close to the optical extender's signal limitation. Are there any optical signal boosters so we do not require further investment in an 800 meter multimode extender kit?

Thank you,
Fredrick

If you need to go >600m, you need good quality cable and an extender rated for the distance. You can't wish it will work because that's what you've got.

What manner of connectors are you using and have you cleaned them?

If you are using OM3 multi mode fiber (aqua cable instead of orange for OM1) you “should” be able to use a pair of the BlackMagicDesigns CONVMOF12G 12G SDI to Fiber converter ($165 ea.) and ADPT-12GBI/OPT 12G SFP+ ($395) on both ends to go up to 4Kp60 video over your length required. Replacing the fiber with Single Mode (yellow) would get you up to 45 km. It will also support 3D-SDI and 6D-SDI.

The prices are from B&H Photo.
