It is love/hate. Murdoch deeply admires what Ergan has done with Ehcostar/Dish Network, considering the much deeper pocketed competition he faced in the 1990's and today. If Ergan weren't used to calling the shots, Murdoch said he would hire him to run DirecTV (when Murdoch owned it) or some other part of his empire, calling Ergan ". . .the best there is." After all, both Ergan and Murdoch are wild about cost-cutting and squeezing every penny dry.

Business always melts away any hard personal feeling. Even the little animated Dish figure and the animated TiVo figure may end up sleeping together once the lawsuit runs its course. Its business!
