More so than normal :)

Friday night I had the 6 foot dish wheeled out of the garage (in a rainstorm) to get a far west satellite that the one on the other side of the house cant get (line of site issues)

but Saturday morning there was a feed that I wanted to get and I knew there might be rainfade issues with rain here and rain/snow/at the uplink. So my neighbor happened to be out Saturday morning and watched me

-move the C-Band dish out of the way (off the spot in front of the garage where I had it)
-wheel ANOTHER 6 foot dish out to that same spot. This one has a Prime focus KU LNB on it (putting it in this same spot allows me to get the truck out of the garage) ;)
-peak the dish to the satellite I needed
-then wheel the C-Band dish back in the garage (there isnt enough room to get the one dish out unless I move the other one out or move the truck

He said "what the hell ya doing now?" and I explained they were different. He just shook his head and said "ok I guess"

He did ask me why I have "SADDAM" plastered on the dish. I laughed and said "no its Sadoun. They're a satellite company that sells dishes, receivers and parts" :D

later that night when he was out with the dogs I did it again
-moved the C-Band dish back out
-moved the KU band dish back in the garage
-aimed the C-Band at the same sat that I did on Friday

He just said "I don't wanna know" :p

I know.....there were no pics as it rained all day Saturday

I red this laughing out loud. :) Our lady neighbor came to me to find out about a sat setup and kept asking 5 times, why do I need a Motorized one, and a large OTA Antenna, and a BUD is being setup. It was beyond her comprehension. All she would be happy with was a little pizza hat, and I suggested her to call the sub promo she came with. ;)

P.S. I wish I could have such a choice of BUDs, but I don't know how to become a Sadoun's beta tester. :D

yeah my neighbor thought I was nuts originally with 7 dishes and a huge UHF Only antenna (Minneapolis digital pre-conversion was all UHF)...its come down now a little bit
C-Band dish
2 fixed KU dishes
2 motorized dishes
OTA antenna
and the 2 wheel out dishes ;)

He thought I was drunk when I'd wheel the dish out in front of the garage in the dead of winter and clear a spot of snow on the driveway with a bucket of hot water to watch a hockey game. Well when the opponent was his favorite college team (Wisconsin) we ran the cable into his (heated) garage and watched the game :)

Lol. I laughed the most about Sadaam. Funny, it is always the neighbors who think we are crazy when in all reality it is them that are missing out.

Ice, that was funny.

Sadoun is also pronounced differently

Kinda like this
"Sa' Dune" same way as saying Dune like in Dune buggy.

Ice, Thats too funny. I live out in the country but have a nosy neighbor across the road who watches every move I make with the dish farm. We kinda sit up on a hill off the road about 175 feet. As you drive by you can clearly see the dishes. When I've been outside I love watching people slow down to look. I've resisted the urge to paint the dishes funky colors. Blind

Iceberg, if you really want to get him going, roll it out only on nights with a full moon. That's when I usually work in my dish farm (due to the soft light to see what I'm doing), and I've seen neighbors peeking out more than a couple of times :D ... An exception to the full moon rule was last week, when I repointed PortaBUD at 87W. Since that dish is at ground level and not on the roof, the yard lights provide enough light for me to see what I'm working on.

The neighbors by me seem okay about my dishes after I tell them all I get, and what I pay for channels. I did tell the phone guy that fixed my Phone/DSL line the other week "Im in contact with the mother ship" :) He laughed and asked me if I can still get HBO. I said sure, 85 movie channels on the BUD :D

I work on my dishes any hours needed. When my actuator puked I was on the garage roof at 4AM investigating it. If a neighbor looked out the window then they probably thought they were dreaming :D

Yeah, but you know what he was REALLY asking......

Well T, it's times like that you need to run your "crazy behavior" feeds into one of those 2.4g a/v transmitters on an omni antenna atop your OTA pole and share with the whole neighborhood.;) (although the FCC frowns on antenna mods for devices under that service)
If they must have the hi PQ you could always open up your WIFI and stream it to everybody within a block that is interested.
If you inflenced enough neighbors, they might let you leave your BUDs out permanently..................

Blind,

Did you ever think about pointing a spare 6 footer right at that house for a couple days and see what they do? Or would that be too much for them? I used to live Fairfield about half mile from Jungle Jim's.

I don't have any neighbors right now when I am out aiming the c-band dish. Currently, only my wife thinks I am nuts. She does like some of the programs I pull in though.

I know. I guess he quickly looked and saw "Sad....." and either assumed or just wanted to be goofy about it ;)
(or just wanted to butcher your last name like he does mine) :)

Funny that Tron mentioned the moon. Last month, I used the moon to ghetto point my Fortec dish porta-Bud. I eye balled the relationship of the moon to the 10' dish while on G14 and repointed the 6' that way perfectly first try and it's untouched since. :D

My neighbors must think I'm running the local SETI observation station.

 I guess that I am red faced here!! I was off a little thinking it was "Sa'don".

Thinking that it is Saddam on the dish is way way off! This is scary and it shows the mentality in this part of the word. :( Heck, check the spelling in emails that you receive!

However, the biggest blow is when someone says "satellite TV" most people reply Dish or Directv!!!...

Well, if everyone would call up Sadoun and order something, you'd hear the proper pronunciation when they answer! ;)
That may be how I knew the word...

But I did spend some time in this little city in south east Asia a long time ago, with a similar name.
Not sure the proper spelling: Sadec/Sa Dec/Sa ?éc, but it was down the road from Vinh Long.
Makes ya impervious to unfamiliar names.

Vanalex,
I have most of the dishes pointed across the road at that house lol. Pretty much everything from 91W to 135W is in that direction. This summer the one son of the neighbor asked me, if I had rain fade issues like his dad does on the pizza dish. I said rain fade whats that lol...The bigger the dish the less problems. I know your former stompin grounds well...traffic on Route 4 lol.....Blind

I don't have any neighbors right now...

GREAT!!! How did you get rid of them??? :D

My road is about 1 mile long and I am the only one on the south side along with farmland and woods. Some "butt-hole" put a subdivision on the north side and I feel like I am on a stage no matter what I do!!!

They are great people ...
...most robberies can be traced to right across my street right next to the closed meth lab location!!!...

If I try pointing a "Pornstar" dish at them, I am sure that would attract them instead of getting rid of them!!! ;)
