the fortec is motorized(Fortec Star HH120 Motor) but going to do some mod to the channelmaster like seen in the forum .also
i had a chose between the channelmaster or a 1.2m primestar so i went with the master.

Droool! I would love to find one of those too. And, far as I know, all the Primestar dishes are channel master-made. Its usually stamped into the back side someplace. My .90 primestar motorized dish seems to work as well as the 1m version, but maybe a 1.2 would be better? I'd like to find out.

Those are exception dishes, I have an old DTN dish that give means 88% Q on 97 west for RTV.

My only question is this, where does one buy new arms and an LNB holder for those?

There was a place called Dow Electronics that sold the parts for these CM dishes. Not sure if they're still around, but they had (or have) offices around the country.

Nice dish. Check the weight on it if you are going to motorize it.

If much heavier than the Fortec, your HH120 might not be able to move it. I will be getting a few Polar Mounts for the 120 dishes. You could probably fit it on this dish (with a slight modification) and then use an actuator with GBox V3000.

Dow Electronics does not sell to the public...so it seems. I bought from them & they sent the wrong parts & do not want to refund or exchange...As a matter of fact I have remained very polite & they wont return my calls either. I called 8 X & sent 4 emails. I am new here & don't know the correct way to vent like this, but I would just like to warn the fellow FTA'er of my trouble with them...Perhaps I am just the one in a million clause. If others have used them successfully Great Deal & I'm sorry. I would not want to bash anyone. I have used several of this sites sponsors & there was never the slightest bit of trouble on any purchase...Id be happy to name them but then I'd be kissing butt & I don't want to do that...Grin

What is the proper name for this channel master dish? I found one in back of a store yesterday and rescued it. It measures 40" wide by 44" tall? Anyone tell me the proper ID of what I found? It has channel master on the back and funny looking commercial lnb on it with a plastic ring that all 3 lnb arms bolt into that hold the lnb. The 3 arms go through the dish and a bolt from the rear holds them in place. thanks for info.
And also one more question. I currently have dishes pointed at 123, 97, 101 and 83. What would be the best of these sats I could use this dish for? Also I assume the lnb is a single polarity v or h so can a aftermarket lnbf be installed on the dish to get both v and h?

I see a lot of these same dishes here in Ohio. Most of them seem to be on the roof of gas stations..quick marts etc...I'd love to snag one of them. Blind:)

There should be a mold # on the back, but it is almost certainly a 1 meter Channel Master like the one I have aimed at G-18 (for the time being, until I can move it to 125w)...

Does the feed assembly look like the one in the attached picture? If so, you can remove the LNB and waveguide. You'll be left with a C-120-flanged feedhorn, which can support a variety of LNBs that will get you dual polarity.

Yes exactly like the one in the picture. Including the rusty bolts. It is still in the van as I am away working so did not have a chance to check it all out. I googled channel master 1 meter and found some pictures of it on line and was glad to find it to be one meter dish. Looks like a keeper. the dish is in real good shape, had to deal with hornets that had taken up home in the lnb cover. I am glad it was later in the day when I put this in the van I took all the arms off and I wanted to take a look in side the lnb cover and I picked it up and could hear this buzzzzing inside. Pulled it out of the van and took the cover off and found a good sized nest inside. If I had not of done that the next day my van would have been full of em.

Bees do seem to be one of the dangers of the FTA hobby. I've never found a nest in my dish equipment, but wasps have been known to nest nearby in a toolshed beneath the dish farm. A couple of years ago, I got a can of fast-acting wasp killer and dealt with a bunch of them.

new dish is now motorized:) and working like a charm
thanks guys for the ideas on the dish mod.
also channelmaster made a nice difference in signal quality over the fortec

fortec sat 129ku(white springs) 85% quality now 91%
channelmaster sat 101ku(rtpi) 85% now 94%
