With all this talk about updates on the Hopper, I decided to check my Wally and see if it got one. It's been running on U806 for a while now.

Anyway, I go to Diagnostics and select the Software Update feature. It goes through the whole 20 minute process, rebooting six or seven times. I get the screen Warning 061 about Vital program informationn being downloaded, do not disturb, etc. Then, it reboots.

When it comes back up, I get the Warning 303 saying my memory is being programmed, do not disturb. After a while, the Wally reboots. I'm back to watching TV.

So, I check on the info screen and see that I'm now running U807.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm not connected to the internet. So, how did the mothership know I was asking for an update?

Thanks in advance for the helpful responses.

P.S. Does anyone know what this update includes or involves?

No internet connection is necessary because the receiver just checks to see what version is on the satellite and is spooling to everybody and if it's newer than the version you have then it downloads.

Thanks. That makes sense. Why didn't it just download it on it's own this morning at 3 am when it normally does such things?

They usually target the receivers in batches over time for the automatic download so you probably hadn't been targeted yet. :)
