Okay now the rule is is that you can't put multiple reasons as your one primary reason. Hence #1 reason is just one reason, not two or more, which is why the vast majority of people could answer in one brief sentence. Anyways, for me it's that my locals suck.

More (and different) stations from the neighboring DMA while MY locals come fine via OTA. (Interestingly, the 'moved' ION picture quality is better than the local OTA broadcast)

That would come down to how each station breaks up their bandwidth. It's very possible the "moved" ION has more bandwidth (so you'd see the same thing if you could pick it up OTA).
