The lead-up to the Daytona 500 looks different this year.
Pole qualifying for the Feb. 14 Daytona 500 isn’t the Sunday before the race. Neither is the Busch Clash, the annual season-opening exhibition event that precedes the Daytona 500.
They’ve both been moved to weeknights. And the Busch Clash is on the Daytona road course for the first time.
Tuesday night’s Clash is a 35-lap event with a caution after lap 15. All playoff drivers, stage winners and former Daytona 500 pole winners are in the event.
Pole qualifying for the Daytona 500 follows the Clash on Wednesday night. That’s just a day before the Duel qualifying races that will finalize the field for the Daytona 500.
Here’s the full schedule for the week.

Tuesday, Feb. 9

Busch Clash, 7 p.m. ET (Fox Sports 1)
2020 race winner: Erik Jones

Wednesday, Feb. 10

Daytona 500 pole qualifying, 7 p.m. ET (Fox Sports 1)

Xfinity Series Beef It’s What’s For Dinner 300, 5 p.m. ET (Fox Sports 1)

How Smart is it that NASCAR has decided to run the Daytona 500 at 2:30 pm, yet have QUALIFING at 7pm ?

Entirely Different circumstances .... should be an entirely different set up on the cars ...

Fwiw, the Twin 125's (they change the name every year, I know them as that ) are also at 7 pm.

Really Dumb idea.

That's Nascar for ya! You're exactly right.

I see that .... Dallas has a real mess going on on thier roads.
The upper portion of Texas does get its fair share ... every year Dallas deals with Ice ...

It seems to happen when I have a connecting flight a lot.
They are dealing with extremely cold temperatures.
