I am new to the Dish Network service. I am wanting to get another dish to mount on my garage. I live in Nashville TN what is the arc? Is it Eastern or Western Arc?

technically you can use either but new installs are done on Western Arc

He beat me to it! Either arc works, only difference is the SD channels of the 4 major networks are only on WA.

Yes, just like quite a few other markets with dual arc status. Most of these were originally EA markets, but when the new WA 129 sat (Ciel 2) went up a couple years or so ago, their markets were also added to the WA.

This is one reason Dish has so few options for adding HD RSN's and HD locals - they can't make up their mind where to put channels so they put the same channels EVERYWHERE.
They should bite the bullet and have each local ONLY on one ARC and free up quite a bit of transponder space for more channels.

All these dual arc locations are on spotbeam so if you remove channels you really do no good. You cant add national channels on a spotbeam.
You could **try** HD RSN's on a spotbeam but then you have to map it more than once due to spotbeams not covering the whole area of a RSN
