"Inside the Living Body," featuring 1920 x 1080p (HD) resolution, starts Sunday on NGC

"Inside the Living Body", featuring never before broadcast endoscopic video footage, will premiere this Sunday on the National Geographic Channel (NGC). The program follows the life of one woman from birth through old age while examining the normal daily workings of her body. The high-definition (HD) footage captures highly detailed video images clearly documenting key aspects of how our bodies function throughout our lifetimes.

The production achieves a number of "firsts" in broadcast television, including incredibly detailed images of a human egg about to erupt from the ovary. Steven Palter, MD/Medical and Scientific Director and HD endoscopy specialist says, "It was like looking through a window – it’s that clear". You’ll see an egg developing inside an ovarian follicle, as well as images of the bowel, liver and gall bladder, fallopian tubes, cervix, and uterus."

The cameras used for filming were full HD, 1920 x 1080p shot at 60fps and in widescreen (16:9) format. In addition to the HD video footage, the production also uses computer generated imagery (CGI) to clearly show how the body functions and changes over time.
"Inside the Living Body," premies Sunday, September 16, 2007, at 8pm ET and 9pm PT on the National Geographic Channel (NGC).
