NCAA College Basketball 2009-10 Season

Christian Laettner. In or out of the Basketball Hall of Fame? (Notice the Hall of Fame isn't strictly for "NBA" players. It's for basketball careers in general, college included).

Will he get in with the rest of his '92 Dream Team members?

OMFG I hope not. Chrissy was a wallflower on that team, to put it nicely. Did nothing to change the game as a college-only star, either, so induction on those grounds would be awful.

As for college career, there is a distinct college HOF that would be perfectly appropriate:

Watchable games tonight:

Zero. Zilch. Nada.

There are two good NBA games and a whole bunch of good hockey games. If that doesn't tickle you, read a book. Or...

A few good inter-conference games...only for the diehards (like me):

8:00 PM Western Kentucky-Troy FCS Central
8:00 PM Butler-Loyola Chicago ESPN Full Court
10:00 PM Utah St-Fresno St Altitude, MASN, ESPN Full Court
(I don't think my Utah State cheerleader cousin goes to away games)

Enjoy!

Is it a given that Kentucky would move up to #1 if they beat Arkansas (8-9) this Saturday? A lot of people knock Kentucky's Georgetown-esque schedule, but they and Texas have each only played two top 25 teams, and since each of them played and beat North Carolina, it's really like they each played and beat just one.

Yes it is a given. They are undefeated.

What a difference a year makes for the SEC in hoops.

Last year, LSU was far and away the class of the league. This year, they've gone downhill and Kentucky is en fuego.

Christian Laettner. In or out of the Basketball Hall of Fame? ...

Laettner claimed to be the only person in the world taller than 6'6" who could walk on his hands. I saw him do it on TV once. That must count for something.

The Hall of Fame used to have four pair of Bob Lanier's size 22 shoes on display. Now that there have been other players with big feet to come along, they just don't seem to have the same cache' that they once did.

Reading too far into it.

The SEC still sucks. LSU was the leader of a horse race comprised of glue factory donees :) LSU was just not that good last year, either.

The only difference now is that Calimari pulled a slimey "Lane Kiffin" (before Kiffin even did it - impressive!) with the Memphis recruits, and they obviously are the class of that league now.

WHY would you say that? AT LEAST in college basketball, you can redeem yourself in the tournament. WHEN UNC wins 21 games, they will be in...FOR SURE.

Kentucky had 20 wins last year and didn't make it. I don't know if they will make it or not. Depends on who they beat. So far I don't think they have beaten any decent teams at all have they?

Anders can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he means by 'Carolina standards' this season is a disaster.

Yep. I knew we wouldn't be nearly as good as we were the last couple of seasons, but this team just looks awful right now. I know a lot of fans would make 1000 excuses like who we lost and injuries, but there's no getting around how poorly this team has played. We treat the ball like a hand grenade the way we turn it over. We have one of the biggest teams in the country, yet are routinely outrebounded. And we don't show much heart. Wake Forest beat us in our own building without breaking a sweat.

At this rate I don't know if we'll be in the Tournament. We're 1-3 in the ACC and have played 3 of those games at home. There's nothing I've seen that says this team can win on the road so it's not a pretty picture. :(

Apples and oranges. See my note about LSU from before - the SEC was AWFUL last year.

As much as it pains me to say it:

20 wins in SEC <<<<< 20 wins in ACC

We beat Ohio St and Michigan St. How? I have no idea.

YEAH...but SOME programs....the name ALONE counts for 2 wins. IF UNC has 21 wins...it's more like having 23 wins.
