need a GeoSatPro mount part

Last year, I bought a GeoSatPro 90cm dish to replace my no-name 30" dish. To save time, I put the new dish on the old mount, and left the new mount in the box. To make a long story short, the old mount is in bad shape now. I took the new mount out to put it together, and I discovered that a piece is missing: the U-shaped bracket that goes inside the bottom end of the J-pole to receive the bolts that hold the J-pole to the foot plate. This piece is unique to the GeoSatPro mount, because of their two-axis alignment ability.

Looking through my records, I seem to have ordered the dish from Sadoun. They no longer carry the GeoSatPro dish, so I have a feeling that contacting them would be futile. SatelliteAV has always carried that brand, but I didn't order it from them. Does anyone know where I could get a spare part, or failing that, order a new foot plate and J-pole kit?

Double-check inside the actual J-mount tube. Mine ended up stuck *WAY* inside the pole during shipment and it doesn't 'rattle' when you shake it. I just found a small screwdriver and dropped it in one end of the tube and the U-shaped bracket came flying out the other end.

This part is shipped in the assembly kit carton and shouldn't be in the J-tube mast unless it had been already partially assembled.

Just let us know what parts are missing.

Oy. That's correct. Somehow it was already inside my J-tube but the part was still shrink-wrapped... LOL. Not sure how it happened...

Over 200,000 GEOSATpro 90cm dishes sold, currently 10,000 J-poles currently stacked in the warehouse and not a single one with the U-bracket pre-installed. Never have been pre-installed and always sealed in a parts bag (not shrink wrapped) in the Dish Assembly Kit supplies box...... Maybe the customer had started the install and partially assembled their equipment? If you find an U-bracket in the J-pole mast, it may have been a restocked product, but you will also find another U-bracket in the assembly kit contents.

Our customer support team has been in contact with Jim S. and he will have a replacement U-bracket soon!

This discussion smacks of people not talking about the same thing.
I certainly don't know what it is...
May I suggest that someone post a proper picture of the part in question, just to settle the argument?

The part they're talking about is a U-shaped piece of metal with two threaded holes on each side of the 'U'. It slides up into the J-pole, and the holes align with slots in the pole. When the pole is fitted into the mounting foot, the bolts go through the mounting foot holes, through the slots on either side of the J-pole, and thread into the U. It is engineered that way to allow the J-pole to not only adjust up and down, but left and right as well, allowing easy leveling. The DirecTV Slimline J-poles work in a similar fashion.

I have a similar question for you.

I don't need the parts at this time and not sure when I will, but I might want to order them soon in case the part may become hard to locate. I bought four GeoSatPro 1.2 M dishes through your company a couple or three years back. Two for me and two for my brother. I installed one on a DG-380 motor which has a motor tube with a very slick finish and maybe a little undersized.

Two U-Bolts that clamp around the motor tube were supplied with each dish, but they were not quite sufficient to keep the dish from spinning on the motor tube. I did tighten them down as much as I dare, but still could push the dish by hand and move it on the motor tube. I did not want to tighten them any further for fear of damaging the tube or bending the bracket.

The dish bracket allows for three U-bolts to be installed so I robbed one of these U-Bolts from my other dish package for the one I set up. I think I gave the other to my brother.

Are these U-bolts available from Geo-Sat? If they are, I will get in touch with your sales staff and place an order. I would need four U-bolts with nuts and washers to satisfy all four dishes.

A trick that installers have used for years to prevent the clamp from spinning on the mast. Place a strip of adhesive backed non-slip or large grit sand paper on the clamp before tightening the bolts. The abrasive surface secures the clamp from slipping with moderate tightening.

I will try that route again, last couple of times I checked, they didn't have the exact dimensioned U-Bolt that was needed. The closest one was just a little off (width too narrow or too wide I don't recall which).

We applied that trick, too. It works swell, I just prefer to have the extra u-bolt instead, it works perfectly for this (my) specific application. I am just suprised that GeoSatPro didn't supply three when the mount was stamped out to accept three. I'll check the hardware store again for the U-Bolt.

The two u-bolt design on an appropriately sized mast is more than adequate support for a standard installation. This design has been factory tested to 125MPH without failure or spinning on a 60mm post. There is no need in a standard installation for the 3rd bolt. Your application requires a slight modification as the post size of your motor does not meet the minimum post size requirement for the dish mount.

The GEOSATpro 1.2m dish mount requires a 55 - 76mm post, but it appears that the 380 motor is manufactured with a smaller 52mm post. In addition or instead of adding a 3rd bolt, you might consider fabricating a sleeve for the motor to increase the post to meet or exceed the minimum size requirement of the dish mount.
