New feature on 721

With this last firmware update, it no longer spins down the HD, it now shuts down the whole machine. I like this feature alot better.
I also found out that with the machine off it will still record programmed events.

Shut down is a relative term.

If it can still record, it must not truly be "off", eh?

The term is "stand by". The only way to truly turn one of these boxes "off" is to pull the plug - but you don't want to do that (except when forcing a reboot) - it'll cause many problems like not getting guide or software updates.

How do you get it to come out of "stand-by" mode? Even the light on the front panel is off when it goes into this mode.

Press the ON button on your remote, or the power button on the front of
the receiver.

IIRC it's 4 hours.
