I am noticing many articles about E* and HD. This seems to be very positive.
Here is another link:
Dish Network to carry Epix movies from Paramount, MGM and Lions
The AP states,

Therefore, it seems that satelliteguys.us was right again.

N e idea what time today these will b turned on?

No clue. I will be anxiously waiting for the uplink report. According to bgothard72 in the Nat Geo Wild...March 29th thread, he is seeing Nat Geo Wild programming information in his EPG starting at 2 A.M. When I checked at home earlier, I believe I saw it at around 6 or 7 A.M. However, the EPG information may have been updated. It should be an interesting and good day for Dish.

Another thread mentioned that by Dish's own count they're ONLY at 160 HD channels, so this additional 8 won't get them anywhere near 200. I wonder what they mean by 200 offerings. I guess we'll find out tomorrow (still Sunday in CA as I type this).

Oops. I guess that I should have wrote Monday in the thread. It is Monday here.

NatGeo Wild is showing now. The first real, non-infomercial programming starts at 8am eastern time.

The channel name has also been changed. Looks like the fun has begun.

And Cue the Press Release form Dish:
Straight from the big E*'s Mouth...

Not seeing the 200 National Channels

Not seeing the math, right now the 250 package has 95 national channels (plus PPV included), 95+8=200???

Though if you have America pack with the preimums I guess that would be a few more

Here's the money quote from the press release, "Customers with a ViP 922 have access to 200 HD channels through a giant 1 terabyte hard drive - twice as large as any other distributor's DVR."

They get to 200 by using the hard drive of the 922. I suspect there are many PPV or VOD choices on the hard drive which drive the channel count up to 200.

I read the LA Times article link, EPIX cost to Dish Subscribers is going to be $10 per month.

Ooops, looks as though EPIX will be available to Platinum subs, and not as a separate add on for DIsh Subscribers. It must be early.

The slow march to the extinction of SD continues.

I don't care how they are counted anymore. DISH has reached the point that they carry more National HD channels than I can watch or will watch.

I also believe we are seeing networks feeling the pressure to get their channels on as HD, probably making negotiations a little easier of late.

Actually, I think they are going to start selling the Platinum HD pack again..
Dish will begin offering the channel, Epix Premium HD, this month to all subscribers who add Dish's platinum high-definition service to their current package for $10 a month.
So the $10 platinum pack will have HDNet Movies, Epix, IndiePlex, RetroPlex, and the others... 13 channels including 4 premium movie channels for $10 a month might not be bad; just wonder how long the HD+Platinum people will be getting +Platinum for free?

Or perhaps, it will be like the NFL Network... you get it with Platinum FOR NOW, then when you get used to it they will splinter it out into it's own ala carte...

Humm HD "Choices" with On Demand and if the seperate 10.00 fee is true I guess they are turning into the cable company, hope they dont plan to add this to the customers who have HD Platnium for one price of 10.00

This could kind of get messy, for those who have HD and platium right now for 10.00 and those who for some reasong did not add it and now have to pay 10 aditional, unless they also plan to add this to those who have HD/Platnium for 10.00

Hey Dish. Choices does not equal channels. You have gone to the cable school of hd counting.

Is there any provider out there that can tell the truth???

About to head off to work. Coming home to these new HD additions will "rock my world"

Hopefully all this talk is true. I don't want to be disappointed.

There have been only a few instances that I recall when DISH announced new HD prior to launch with specific details (date and actual channels to be launched).

Usually they launch on a Wed then in the following days they make the announcement. Here they announced the day and channels before hitting the switch....

I hope the switch doesn't break.

So some of you are saying that Platinum will be $10 extra again "soon"? I just got HD + Platinum for $10 from my good friend Sam in India in March. I was paying $20/mo for HD for a long time. I guess Charlie giveth and taketh away at will.

The new channels I read they might add today are: EPIX HD, G4 HD, Headline News HD, History International HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, ShortsHD, Style HD and Turner Classic Movies HD.
