Hey, can someone give me a hand? I keep getting scramble channels I have waited for as long as 2 hours trying to get a channel but no luck. I am using a coolsat. 4000 pro with a primestar dish with a diseqc 1.2 motorized h-h motor using a invacom LNB.when I hookup the coolsat the signal is red I get the information about what is on that channel but nothing else. I have following the direction by every step. I found my true south. did my longitude and latitude which is 31.006818n 88.04274w. The pole is pump.On the invacom LNb it have 4 place C L C L . I hook up one cable to C on the lnb the other end to a 4x1 diseqc that say 1 LNB. the next cable is hook to the L on the LNB to the next diseqc that say 2 lnb Then next I have a cable on the the spot on the diseqc that says receiver going to a satellite finder to the coolsat receiver. I been standing outside for about an hour moving the dish real slow trying to find a bird ......but nothing . Like I said the signal on the coolsat is red should it be green when I find the right bird?.... Please help I been at this for the last two weekend..........

WOW! I would walk before you run!

First WELCOME to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum!

I would remove the motor and switch and try to find and store your true south satellite first, it will really help.

Then if you feel you are close to the satellite try a blind scan, I would just use a linear port on the LNBF to start with and make sure the L.O. is set to 10750

thanks I would try doing that today. Hey so you are telling me that I should have not bought the motor

No way, having a FTA setup without a motor is like buying a car without wheels : )

Just that its hard to do everything in one go! Take your time and do it one step at a time, the motor and switch are just getting in the way of the very important task of finding and storing your true south satellite!

ok I will try to set everything up today are u going to be around today so if I have any question u can answer them for me. Give me about 4 hours and check back

I don't know if I can help, because I know nothing about the Coolsat. You mentioned nothing about how your H-H motor is hooked into the system. I think you should have the cable from your Coolsat going to the H-H motor, then to the Diseqc switch, then to the LNB. I wouldn't think it would matter the order on the Diseqc switch as long as you have one C-circular and one L-linear hooked up. You should probably be trying for IA-8 at 89.0w for your TS-true south satellite. You can go to http://www.lyngsat.com/ and find correct settings for transponders. On lyngsat you'll find WDSU-TV listed at frequency 12191 with a symbol rate 3979 and a video PID 308 and an audio PID 256. Hope this helps.
I'm sure someone with a Coolsat will chime in sooner or later with some real help.

Edit: Disregard the last sentence, it took me so long to write this others have already responded.

Also it's unrealistic to expect "instant gratification" with this hobby. It is knowledge intensive and you have to pay the dues by jumping into the technical stuff...at least to get a good grasp on how it all works. Almost any question you might have has probably already been asked before so use the search button or just go through the threads and do a lot of reading.

Also as suggested earlier it's a good idea to forget the motor for the time being. Just mount the dish and get it aimed on one satellite that has a lot of stuff on it. IA-5 for example.....then take a few weeks and learn your reciever and how it all works and get comfortable with that and once you have a good grasp of that then you can look at adding the motor. Otherwise you will shortly grow frustrated and not want to mess with it anymore.

Hey, I am going to try starting today to go at my hobby again. I been doing some reading. Just wanted to let you guys know that you guys have been a big help. wish me good luck

If at first you don't succeed, try again... IMO, the weekend is the best time for scanning sats.

Good Luck and Welcome! :welcome

If you take the dish off the motor and find your true south satellite, use an inclinometer to take a reading of where you found the peak signal and write it down. Also, stand behind the dish and find some landmark that the lnb lines up with. That way when you put it back on the motor, you can quickly return to your true south satellite.

I've had my FTA setup for about 2 to 3 months now; when i first got it, it was like being on a bad date..but now if something goes ary...i can go outside with my compass and wrench and within 1 minute i'm right back where i need to be....and my installation is well what i call very temporary...i don't even have the pole in concrete and it stays very well until the man that mows the yard comes by and i guess gives it a turn or something..because every time after they mow it's out of whack..but no problems within a minute or so it's fixed where it was to begin with..heck half the time i don't even need to compass...i've just learned where to point it...so give it some time and it'll be all good.

me again

Hey my zip code is 36505 and voomvoom say that my true south satellite should be IA-8 at 89.0w I am using a coolsat receiver and the closes sat. that i found was 93.0w IA8 and I went to lyngsatThis is what my setup showing on my coolsat.
Sat. 93.0W IA8
LNB POWER........... ON
LNB TYPE.............UNIVERSAL
LNB FREQ.............9.950/10.608
22KHZ.................AUTO
DISEQC SWITCH....OFF

Hey my signal level is red with 89 on it but my quality in low on all my sat.......please help

For a Universal LNBF the L.O. should read....

9750-10600

Enter a LIVE channel from the satellite you are looking for and watch for quality not signal level
