Hi all,

I have had a home built, and I had the builder do all the in-house wiring -- so each room has two co-ax's, a phone line, and an ethernet line. Totaled, I have four HD DVRs and 2 HD receivers. The installer came out this past Saturday and was none-to-pleased with the amount of receivers I had going on. Once he saw that all the in-house wiring was already completed, he loosened up a bit. From what I could tell, the installation went smoothly. We did not actually move into the house until this past Wednesday, and I have had nothing but problems for the past two nights. I have called DirecTV and they are sending somebody back out tomorrow to troubleshoot. I'm hoping if I explain my symptoms here, maybe you all can help me help him :)

On Wednesday night, I hooked up the first HD DVR with no issues, everything went great. As soon as I connected the second HD DVR, but tv's started to pixelate real badly, like when a storm is in the area. I checked outside, and we had clear skies. I tried disconnecting the second HD DVR, and the first one cleared up immediately. I waited a couple of hours, tried hooking up the second one again, and everything was fine.

Last night, Thursday night, I finished connecting all the receivers. Around 8:00 PM EST, they all went out -- same thing -- the pixelating, searching for signal, etc. etc. I tried disconnecting all the receivers except for the first one, and that did not help this time. For the rest of the night, they channels would not come in. Around 10:00, I discovered that ESPN HD was coming in perfectly. This was the only channel I could find coming in with no issues.
I have a hunch as to what's going on, but wanted to get your thoughts about it.

Did you have the TV's onsite when the installer was there?
What kind of wires/cable did your builder install? RG6, RG59 or Quad Shield?

Sounds to me like a bad LNB, switch or the dish need to be re pointed.

With all of those recievers, how did he set them up? You are 2 tuners over the 8 tuners on a SWM setup, so I'm curious what he did in your case?

Cascade 2 6x8's? Swm and 6x8 hybrid system?

What model receivers are they?

im gonna bet power pass's on a 6x8 that would explain why some work when others dont, but the dish realignment also seems likely. Could you please post back with your signal strength on the 101w and 103C satellites. also if you could take a picture of whereever the 'junction point' is for all the cable.
