I had a new install yesterday of a slimline and 2 (HR-21's). The installation went without a hitch until the software updates and satellite acquisitions.

The problem: when satellite setup is run it has RED X's in both boxes of the 99 and 103 satellites, however the 101, 110, and 119 have the GREEN checkmarks.

Here is the weird problem ALL the stations in HD including my HD locals come in fine no problems at all.

When the installer peaked everything he was registering 96,97, and 98 on the 101,110, and 119. He was using the buddy to adjust.

Any thoughts, bad LNB (if that is the case why are all the channels coming in ok)?

thanks in advance

If you have good signal strength in the menu on the 103 and 99 don't worry about it.

I am a professional installer and have been doing Directv for four years. I use the Accutrac III and dither the Slimline on the ka bands and always had 95 or higher on the 99 and 103 sats. I have never had a problem until recently when the new software took effect. According to the receiver I should have no HD channels, but they work fine. I use my Birdog 4.0 and i get 90-92dB readings, BER 100%, and my spectrum analyzer shows everything is fine. I have no problems with signal in most rainstorms even. I think they have a software issue. Tried to talk to Directv tech support and they say I am not aligning the dish right. They can't tell me why the signal on 103 was above 95 across the board and after it does it's download it is in the 30's. This only happens to about 50% of the HR21-100's I install. My HR21-100 at home shows 0's on 103, but all my HD works fine. Anyone have a clue what is going on. Will the SWM odu's fix this problem?

the installer came back yesterday and we messed around and secured what I think is excellent signal quality.

99c: 87-92 on all transponders
99s: 84-89
103c: 90-94
103s: 84-87
110: 95-98
101: 94-95
119: 92-100

Still the satellite setup says we do not have the 99/103 available, however the stations come in great.

What do you guys think about the signal quality? I am very happy with those.

The definitive check you have is the "test" channels: 480/481 for odd and even txps on the 103; 482/483 for odd and even txps on the 99. If you get a confirmations on the bottom right of the screens, you're on the sats just fine.
