Hmm....

Hmmmm....

Me wonders if the receiver is slaved to the provided software or if the box could be used with 3rd party/pre-existing softwares?

I like that... although I'd prefer to see a statement that indicates it has been TESTED with version xx.xx of those programs. But in any event, what is not to like about this package? Personally, I might look at a better power supply than a wall wart, but it certainly is about as portable as one could hope for, replete with S2.

 Could an external USB sound card be used at the same time this thing is pumping it's stream into the PC??

Anyhow, nifty to be sure!

Wow very nice, and it looks like i comes with MAC drivers!

Many have tried, but I have not yet heard of anyone getting these units to work on a Mac. The only available Mac app is also pretty lame, so it does not even matter. Linux and Windows support are excellent.

foreign letters:

Not all the characters display properly.
I think you may have used a foreign character set.
Similar problems on both web pages for both products, in the Specs section.

See attached picture below.

@ RnR,

I have used several of the "free" DVB apps using the BDA driver with my USB 2104, and they worked fine. If they support BDA (and DVB-S2, if that is what you are looking for).

Apparently this receiver doesn't yet work with TSREADER.

@ BJ,

Rod has yet to support BDA drivers, and that is all the newer units use.

There is an older unit that used WDM drivers that works with TSReader (according to his website, the USB 2101).

In terms of software support for the CA version, I don't have one but there is a thread from someone who does that suggests DVB World support for this is thin or non-existent. Does one need third party software to get the card reader to work?

In the fourth pic in the original post, one of the connectors is labeled "LNB out".

Is this the same as the "Loop Out" on a STB receiver? I have a DVBWorld DVB-S2/Digiwave tuner that does not have the LNB Out feature (labeled "NC"). The only other PC USB DVB-S2 receiver that has a functioning Loop out feature is the Q-Box II that I've seen on eBay.
