I got a 2700E for a friend on Friday and their's only a 4-8$ CDN difference compared 2700A but maybe retailers getting cheaper but are not passing on the savings to us clients.

Tony :)

There is a temporary shortage of 2700A receivers (with modulator) at the manufacturer level. The 2700E is available in small to moderate quantities, but wholesale cost is the same here in the U.S. It's the same receiver,
without a modulator. If you have RCA monitor inputs, there's no need for a modulator. The other possibility would be to install a UHF modulator at the output of the A/V connections, to feed this satellite signal onto an unused frequency in the UHF band. (Channels 3 and 4 are often in used).
