New Software Updates Discussion Thread

As long as they take between releases, they really can't let updates go sometimes... When it's typically months and they have something fairly bad, they've got to roll-back updates. I'm still curious to see if this one goes full-release. It won't affect me, but with Dish putting so much emphasis on HD-LiLs, they'd BETTER not release this one !

I agree, they really need to seriously roll this one back, and fast. What this does to recorded HD is hideous! Watching HD is just fine if you're watching it live, but recorded, it's messed up...

And the point of adding new/more HD if you can't even DVR it and watch it decently would be?

They need to fix this issue or roll it back, regardless of when the new smartcards are shipping.

Just what I posted this morning for the 301 receivers. They did spool some beta software that goes to the beta testers only (I won't post the serial numbers) and L510 is in the range. So they must be trying to fix it.

You gotta wonder why they're touching the code related to MPEG decoding unless they're "tweaking" it.

One of my 211s updated to L4.38 last week, another didn't. Now the first is on L4.39. Must have been a problem with L4.38.

Must be because there's another beta update for the 211s spooling to the testers.

I know RandallA removes the actual serial numbers themselves, but maybe he can post how many are in the beta pool (??). Typically it's just over (200) or so for the 622/722 receivers.

Last beta update went to 245 622 receivers and 248 722 receivers.

I do it manually. I run it on my main computer so I don't run TSReader 24/7. My plan is to setup a second computer to run it all the time and notify me when a new log is there.

So you could miss updates ? I presume they spool for a decent time though, like 24 hours or more, so as long as you checked twice a day, you'd probably be fine.
