Hello all,
I just got off the phone with Dish Network advanced Tech group(don't how advanced they really are). New software upgrade is not due for another 2 to 3 months. There is nothing they will do about this.
Just thought I share this with you guys..

i just got this back from E* Thanks for your email; Dish Network is aware of the issues with the
811
receiver. We are working hard to fix these issues and will have
fixes for
most with our next soft ware release schedule for tomorrow 3/2/04.

Thanks

I just received the following email from D* after writing to ceo@dishnetwork.com and asking when the new software release for the 811 will be released.

I wrote an email to ceo@echostar.com. Gentleman named CJ called me back. He was aware of the issue and he DID mention that the new software upgrade which is due out tommorrow will fix the problem. He was nice about it. According to some engineer I spoke with this morning, he said the new upgrade is due out in 2 to 3 months.
Lets hope CJ is right.

I got that email too

I received that same email too from the same guy. Let's hope he is telling us the truth. My whole point in the "***everyone read this***" post was urging people to email the h*ll out of Dish. The more we stand together the more powerful we become. The squeaky wheel is the one that gets the grease, right?

Take care,
Ice

I got the exact same email. Let's hope they come through, I have VOOM coming tomorrow for an install.

C.J. works for Mark Duffy in the Executive Offices. He has been instrumental in sorting out a solution to the end of the product life for the model 5000 HD Module. He knows what he is talking about! I'm not promising we will see the 811 upgrade tomorrow but I'm sure it is scheduled soon. The advanced tech probably is looking down the road to the next upgrade. However, I have no knowledge of what may come. I hope the 811 upgrade is out tomorrow but I'm relatively pleased with mine.

I watched a rerun of one of E* tech shows from 2/9/04. I was shocked when they actually read an email discussing all of the 811HD problems and when the software upgrade would be released. They said the end of the month (February).
They even addressed the shortage of the 4-switch (name?) that would allow you to hook up a superdish (3-sats) & a separate dish for 61.5. They said they just had a shipment of 100 come in (whoopee!), and they should have plenty in by the 1st part of May. I guess my point is, I was shocked that they were even addressing (acknowledging) these issues. My installer that came out to fix a switch problem today, knew nothing about the 811HD problems. He was aware of the 4-switch being in short supply.

Huh? What's this? Is Rupert intercepting and replying to Charlie's emails???? Must be corporate espionage!! :shocked :yikes :shh :haha :D

Does the receiver have to be off to download the new software?
Also, in the setup have 'dowload without my permission' or 'upgrade without my permission'. Don't remember the exact terminology, been a while since I set mine up and I'm not at home to verify it now.

I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. However, setting expectations for a 3/2 software launch is a bold statement to make to external DISH Network customers.

They better live up to this, or I will be seriously disappointed.

Here is the e-mail I received today:

When I see a new number in my sysinfo screen, I'll believe it. Until then.. Its vaporware.

Yep... 2:34pm PST and nothing doing.

I emailed him back lets see if he responds.

Maybe "scheduled on March 2" is sort of like the due date for a baby...a rough guesstimate. It certainly seems to have generated the same level of anticipation anxiety as an impending birth.
