Hi all,

We recently bought a house that had a satellite dish installed. The dish is a Opticum LOP 04H Octo LNB (Opticum Octo LNB LOP-04H) (We live in Germany and I have been unable to find any english links, but hopefully the stats translate easy enough).

I have an old Pioneer KRP-500A TV, which has a DVB S2 tuner built in. However, I have not been able to find any channels when attempting to search.

I have put together a bunch of images here, showing the different configurations possible on the TV. Could someone please point me in the right direction as to what I should try and configure? I have never had TV through Satellite before, so some of the terminology in the menus don't say much to me.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum, Crast!

Aerial select SINGLE is the best choice right now.
First set LNB Voltage ON.
LNB frequency UNIVERSAL is good, keep it that way!

Then try a satellite scan, all frequencies, or if you have the option of BLIND SCAN do that.
Then please report if you receive any channels. :)
(Edit: And which ones (examples), and at which frequencies, to check at what satellite the dish is aimed. Which satellite are you after?)

BTW Octo LNBs (with 8 outputs) usually are not the best ones; but hopefully this one is (still) OK.

Awesome, that did it! I ended up with some 1300+ channels. Now I just have to sort through them....

Thanks!

That's nice!
Welcome to the satellite hobby, with your first success! :)

When you receive mainly german programms, your dish prabably is aimed at 19.2 east.

When you want mainly british programs, you might want to aim at 28.35 east.
Depending on where in Germany you are, a relative small dish (60-80 cm) might be enough to receive ALL british channels (also those of the 'spot beam').
Or a bigger dish would be needed, or you'd have to be content with only part of all the british FTA programms....

You might (in due time) also want to build a multi-LNB setup, for receiving more than one satellite position.
