I ordered SA on Monday, they told me they would ship it on the 7th. So I figure I should get it on or before the 18th I hope. I moved from ITVN to SA because ITVN was not delivering on the channels they said we would get. I was subscribed to the Starz/Encore movie channels and for two weeks after putting in for them to fix it they still haven't. I think the ITVN company is on the way out. But anyway I'm so glad to find and be apart of a strong christian company that has a good number of tv channels. I hope the IP set top box will work as good as ITVN's box if not better. :D

From a lifetime subscriber to the satellite service which goes under on or before 3/31/08, I wish the best of luck to you and to SA. I hope they fullfill the promises they make in the IPTV department.

See ya
Tony

I'm a lifer sub, and as far as I am concerned, they can shut their DBS down right now. I will never do business with this company again. Then maybe at least E* can use the TPs to increase their offerings.

Sorry t bust your bubble but you should have stuck with ITVN. sky angel has repeatedly NOT stuck to their word over the years re launchng new satellite in 2002, adding channels, shutting off PTV canada with no notice etc

Let us know how the reception is with that box and what your connection speed is.

I still have the ITVN box if I still wanted to keep them. I just don't see any light down the tunnel for them. I hope SA does have a decent picture quality. It would be nice to have maybe a channel like Boomerang or some movie channel besides Hallmark movie channel like TCM would be nice. Oh I have been reading and re-reading post from people on here and tring to find anything on the net to give me any information about the IPTV Sky Angel set top box. Does anyone know of a website that gives any info on it? Who makes it?

I can't find anywhere what the brand is of the receiver. All I have seen from SA is that it's labeled Sky Angel.

Well I guess I'll get the IPTV set top box sometime after the 7th now! Here is what the email said they sent me.

"Sky Angel IPTV Equipment Update

Here at Sky Angel we are looking forward to providing you with an exceptional Faith and Family television viewing experience. To ensure you receive the best service possible, the test phase of our IPTV service launch must be completed prior to shipping your equipment. Therefore, we have had to extend our shipping time frame. We will continue to keep you updated via e-mail, and you will receive an e-mail notification once the shipment of your equipment has been processed. Please note that your credit card, debit card or bank account will not be charged until the date that your equipment is shipped."

I ordered my service in mid December and just received an email today that states that the testing phase is not yet complete, we will be notified when the box is shipped. You should have (or will) received an email as well.

I hooked up my Linksys Wireless "G" router just last week so I'm prepared when the unit arrives.

I'm looking forward to the service!:)

I am really looking forward to this too. I did get the email today. I just hate turning on a TV channel on cable and about every show they have on has a cussing in it. My favorite channel used to be TVLand. But now they have some shows on there now that have cussing on them. It's almost like they (the tv channels) feel like they have to have cussing in shows in order to get people to watch them.

I’m with you jlahmeyer, what the secular media considers “family friendly” is relative to ratings and ultimately comes down to $$$. Just follow the money.

I have been a lifetime subscriber to Sky Angel since 1997 and saddened that their plans didn’t work out for a world wide satellite network, but that doesn’t mean that SA’s management aren’t Godly Christian people as some here would like to suggest. DBS requires deep pockets, and those who are willing to air anything to make a profit for themselves and their stock holders, whether that be religion, porn or anything in between. Sky Angel can’t air just anything (programming) and contrary to what others on this forum may think, they have done their best to provide as “family friendly” programming as they possibly could.

I truly hope that their IPTV service succeeds and grows as it is a very important and valuable asset. I do believe though that Sky Angel will always be a niche service as true Christianity will never be popular as the Bible clearly states. IPTV has great growth potential over the coming years and doesn’t require the cash flow from a large subscriber base that DBS requires. Just think of the possibilities that Sky Angel has now that they didn’t have with DBS!

I’m looking forward to the new programming that Sky Angel will provide via IPTV and working with this new (to me) technology.

A friend of Sky Angel

And the ability to select viewing options from a 48-hour period (for the faith channels) will make it so much better. And they can offer so many more channels with room to expand.

That is a very good feature, it will allow us to customize our viewing/listening even more so (I think) than a DVR. Maybe sometime in the future a DVR will become available as both features together would be great.:up

And as you also stated, the expansion of channel/programming options is always a good thing.:)

I am so excited about this! I love the idea of having 48 hour viewing for faith channels for shows that have already been on a huge plus!!!!

A truly "Godly" person would honor their word at all cost, wouldn't they? Wouldn't a "Godly" person NOTIFY its subscribers if they were turning off service, especially service that was paid for? Sky Angel shut off IPTV Canada, no warning, no follow up explanation. Supposedly DBS and lifetime will be shut off on or before 4/1/08 yet NO NOTICE has officially been given!

sky Angel has also lost the opportunity to bring Gods word to the rural areas of the country/world by switching to IPTV. They can make more $$$ with less subscribers. that is what this has really been abut all along $$$ not ministry. they asked for $$$ from lifetimers when they were in financial need. They didn't launch the satellite in 2002 due to lack of $$$, switched to IPTV to gain $$$, trieed to nickle and dime the lifetime membes by adding a $5 fee for "special channels".

I agree with you catkoko, but I think at this point, at least for me, it's time to move on. There will be folks that have super fast internet, and haven't been burned by the company that will find SA IPTV a very good option to secular TV. I won't be one of their subs, but I do wish them and their new "friends" the best. :)

I agree with your statement except the sentense quoted. I believe that while the original visionary was alive and running the show (Bob Johnson) that was not what SA was all about. However after he handed down the reigns, what happens to every company after the founder dies happened to SA. The bean counters got involved and changed the business plan to maximize profits. To hell with the original goals.

See ya
Tony
