Mustang, OK
I got a new Amazon Toshiba 43" Fire TV on Prime Day, and installed it two days ago. It has the red and white jacks for external audio, but I can't get audio out of my external amplifier. Yes, it is plugged in and turned on, and the cables are connected the same way that they were with my previous HDTV.

Everything else seems to work, the picture is great, the internal speakers are ok, and I found out how to disable those. I can connect my DirecTV box via HDMI, and switch between video inputs. The voice remote works.

There is a learning curve with this TV, so I'm guessing that there's something that I haven't found yet to switch to the external audio.

Well, I took another look at the box, and the red and white audio jacks are labeled as "inputs" to the TV. Huh? I guess I'll need an optical soundbar, or another Bose Solo.
