I may have been taken.
I purchased a HD DVR from a private owner.
When I called Direct TV They said they would not attivate the box.
I am a good costumer of 10 years with direct tv.
Is there a way to get this box to work?
Or am I out of luck.

Since March of 2006 all HD DVR's (HR20/21/22/23's) have been leased boxes, not purchased. The except to that is the HR21Pro which was a purchase only box. Sounds like you need to go back to the seller and let them know, maybe they just didn't know and they'll refund your money.

Yes Dave you have been taken your seller wasn't a PRIVATE OWNER. So a fool and his money were soon parted. There are many posts warning to get RID# and contact D* before buying.
