New Web Sling Player v1.5.1.118 for IE - Apr 2011

All I can think of at the moment is to make sure webslingplayer is actually not running. (task manager)

(I don't have windows 8 - assuming they have task manager still so however you get to it)

Otherwise it sounds like whatever webslingplayer is installing is trying to be accessed by slingbox.com.

I was going to say ... best case ... use IE for one type of access, get another non-ie browser for the other type.

Example: use IE11 for Sling*box*, use Firefox for Sling*adapter* (aka sling-hopper)

Thus the web-sling updates, will only be for your respective uses. There was no "multiple" web OCX (for ie) options so that you could have multiple versions of the sling web codec installed, running, switched between.. at least back then. I've not had Dish service for a year and a half, but will be coming back sometime this year (Directv is too expensive for the same stuff, regardless of the genie).
