NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

So tonight got awful fast. Texans 2nd round pick Ben Tate broke his ankle, out for the season.

Titans UDFA RB Stafon Johnson, the guy that dropped the weights on his neck at USC made a nice play then got tackled awkwardly and got 'Theisman'd'... looked like his lower leg bent the wrong way. He was carted off with an air splint/cast thing on his foot/leg.

Edit: awesome, they're saying it's only a dislocation (ankle)... so will depend on the xray/MRI to determine any breaks, muscle/tendon damage, etc. It's really hard to imagine dislocating my ankle. F'ing ow.

Steeler's 1st string looked bad.
All three RB's dropped the ball last night.
Offensive line looked like normal, made the Lions D look great.

Dixon looked better than Leftwitch

:up:up:up

Cy,
Are you IN Pittsburgh ?
The rains last night looked torrential.

Lions did not look bad at all.
I thought Stafford did his thing, I think he's gonna be REAL good.

Steeler's first string Offense played half way thru the 2nd, I don't know for sure when the Lions moved to second string ...

Bills lost RB Lynch (sprained ankle) for 2-3 weeks and RB Jackson (broken hand) for 4-6 weeks due to injuries in their game this weekend.

The first full day of NFL week 1 action starts 4 weeks from today.

Patriots have put Torry Holt on IR due to an undisclosed injury.
Edit: Schefter says it's a potentially career ending knee injury.

Lions lost LB Jordon Dizon to a knee injury for the season.

Painter is so bad, if Manning were to go down the first game of the season not only would they lose that game but they'd be lucky to win 2 more all year. One of the announcers kept saying 'its ok he'll never play' ... one of those phrases that you can see coming back to haunt you.

And the fun continues in Buffalo. At the very least, I held out hope that a three-headed rushing monster might work out well.

My god, this could be a season from hell ala the 08 Lions.

Rookie WR Antonio Brown out of Central Michigan also looked very good as did FA pick up RB Isaac Redman.

He did pretty well against the 3rd and 4th+ stringers in the 4th quarter, though it was annoying when he'd underthrow someone and the announcer would call it a perfect throw the WR (who had to slow down and look up/over his shoulder at a pass leading him out of bounds and try to catch it almost against his facemask with a defender about to him him) just dropped it.

The problem that Tebow may have that the announcers missed was that a number of his passes he reverted to his college slow-release.

Orton played really well.

He did pass for a 105 yards. It still was pretty good for his first game. That was an interesting touchdown he made at the end of the game. Did you hear the announcers talking about the size of his hands?

Wrong, the throw to #12 was perfect.

While, yes he was playing against back-ups, he was also playing with back-ups. Did not really have any pass protection.

Tebow also hit a WR wide open down the right side lines for a substantial gain and he dropped it.

NFL Videos: Pre WK 1: Tebow highlights

It's the second pass here, pretty clear on the replay the WR had to slow down, he got his hands on it so it should have been cought, but he underthrew it... 6 points if he didnt lead him out of bounds and had put the ball in front of him rather than try and hit lob it to the back of his head.

Unless you think WRs are routinely leaning backwards and catching balls with their facemasks...
