NHL Season 2013-14

Bruins win their 10th in a row tonight. The Penguins also won, so the B's stay five points ahead of the Pens.

Back IN the playoffs .... for the moment ...
5 points behind Toronto.

6 points behind Tampa, which is in 3rd place, which is a lock position for the playoffs.

Still 1 point out of a playoff spot. They have 75 points and Columbus 76. Don't think Columbus will hang on to a playoff spot coming down the stretch.

Your right, not sure what I was looking at earlier.

I thought Columbus had 74 points. That's why I thought the Wings were beating them now. Oh well. About 12 games left in the regular season so anything can still happen.

I as a Red Wings fan, have always hated Roy ..... but always Respected him. (except when he would make a save and wag the puck in his glove over his head, pointing the spotlight on him all the more ....)

Avs/Wings.... now that beings back a lot of great memories. Am not a fan of either team but that was some great/fun hockey to watch!

Is this adding another 2 teams to the playoffs? When teams repeatedly miss the 16 team playoffs, its time to fire management
ie- Edmonton!

The average height is proportioned to society... in the past 43 years... nutrition and health care evolved greatly. We're taller, living longer, healthier etc
And depending which state you're from.... smarter too

The Wild Card is not needed when 16-teams are making the playoffs. Eight? Sure! But not 16! Buttman's head needs to be impaled onto a pole right next to William C. Ford Jr...figuratively speaking, of course.

The first sign of trouble w/ Buttman was when he renamed the divisions and conferences to match the NBA format.

Here are my fav anti-Bettman quotes:

[h=1]Chris Chelios[/h]In a conference call for himself and the rest of the 2013 Hockey Hall of Fame Class, Chelios was asked about commissioner Gary Bettman.
His response: "Let's not mention that name on this call. This is a good day."

During the 1994-95 lockout (aka "The First One"). At the time, Chelios was playing for the Chicago Blackhawks.
"If I was Gary Bettman, I'd be worried about my family … or my well-being. Now he's gonna affect a lot of people, and some crazed fan or even a player, who knows, they might take it in their own hands and figure they get him out of the way and things might get settled. You'd hate to see something like that happen, but he took the job."
He went on to say that Bettman maybe had "little-man syndrome."

Gino Odjick

Gino Odjick on the effect of his suspension without pay and its’ effect on his wife Jolene, "She won’t be able to play bingo or shop for a whole month. Maybe Bettman will get what he deserves when I tell her she can’t play bingo or go to the stores. My advice to him is to run."

Wild Card? What the heck is this?

they changed it around this year. Basically playoffs are top 3 in each division + next 2 highest point total per conference. Same amount of teams as before
In the first round, the top-ranked team in the conference plays against the lowest-ranked wild-card, while the other division winner plays against the higher ranked wild-card. The second and third place teams in each division will then play each other.

There have been no significant changes in regards to height over the last 40-years in the U.S. or Canada. The largest differences are the inclusion of Scandinavian Countries (generally taller) and a mindset where the NHL is drafting bigger players. While society is getting fatter, this should not affect these young athletes one iota. In a nutshell, they're strength training and taking supplements like protein, creatine, etc.

You should probably check your facts...we're not taller. In fact, our height has been stagnant and is falling behind other industrialized nations (we used to be #1 50-years ago). We're no longer living longer, and we're surely not any healthier thanks to rampant obesity and diabetes. Some experts are predicting that Gen X/Millennium will have a shorter live expectancy than my generation...regardless of all these fat-f#%$ pill poppers.

Also, the average IQ has dropped 14-points since they started measuring intelligence during the Victorian era. Why? Partly because childhood illnesses no longer claim the lives of the weak, and partly because intelligent people (the thoughtful/responsible types) are having far fewer children than the intellectually and employment challenged folks who are being given welfare, food stamps, medicaid and a laundry list of other entitlement to make more...well, one-parent, dull, unloved, unsupervised bastards. So we're not smarter by a long-shot in the U.S. and I cannot think of one state in the union where we've advanced our intelligence. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...uman-intelligence-victoria-era_n_3293846.html

They should of just eliminated that stupid point for losing in OT instead.
