Nothing but gray bars. ????

I can't see anything but gray bars on an HD telecast. It will not display 16X9, only a 4X3 with gray bars. The 811 is playing through DVI input into my Samsung DLP.

I noticed this some time ago, but didn't take the time until today to troubleshoot it.

The 811 can say the broadcast is HD: NORMAL or HD: GRAY BARS and it makes no difference.

I just ran through DSCHD, ESPNHD, and HDNET. At least 2 of them are showing what is apparently an HD broadcast but all I get is 4X3 with gray bars.

I checked all the settings on the 811, even Restored Factory Defaults, then did a power-off reset. No help.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

I don't know the 811, but it sounds like you should be playing with the TV format controls.

Hit the "channel up" button on your 811 remote until it your display says "normal." I believe you are in the gray bar setting. Let us know how you make out.

Never mind. Since when did those Page up and down buttons do anything? LIke go through different aspect picture formats-gray bar, normal, stretch, zoom, etc.

See, I said I didn't watch very much. And I haven't been reading this forum enough to keep up. Jeez.
