We all live and die through our teams, but it seems like fantasy sports are taking over for a section of the population that should actually get out onto the court/ice/field/whatever and participate.

So here is my question. Who is actually getting out and playing?

I'm going to define playing by actually playing in a league, where you play for a championship of some sort, with referees and everything. Races count too. So who qualifies?

And I'm not asking for past accomplishments, how you almost got drafted but couldn't make it to camp that time, or how your ACL kept you out of the major leagues. I can listen to my boyfriend's friends if I want to hear a bunch of near-misses...

I mean who is actually playing in leagues RIGHT NOW? I don't care about the level or the caliber of the league, that doesn't matter. I just want to know who is still competing.

Do indoor sports count, i.e wrestling (if you wanna call it that) in a king size bed??

I golf, no league, just regularly in the summer.

Otherwise, last time I played in a league of any sort was 2 years ago I played on a couple softball leagues. There's a dozen excuses why I don't play anymore, it really came down to the many close call injuries. Decided working might be more important then softball beer leagues :D

Currently playing catcher in a 25+ amateur baseball league. Had a great year until I injured my throwing shoulder. We lost in the league championship.

Also play in our corporate basketball league that starts on the 19th of this month. We usually play about 30 games 2 nights a week. OBVIOUSLY play the SG, only 5-8.....LOL!

Still playing tons of golf on the weekend days I do not play baseball. Not a bad handicap, 15, but do not have the time to get professional lessons to improve.

And of course, from about mid February till late June, I am assistant head baseball coach for a local catholic school here in Miami.

I'm guessing you don't work for a living ? :D

Yep....manage to "squeeze in" about 50 of work a week.....LOL! And once my son starts to liking a sport....if he does, I would assume I may drop a couple of sports just to live vicariously through him....and IF I am LUCKY, he is good...IF NOT, well, as long as he has fun....

....believe me when I tell you, I do NOT wanna be like some of the a$$hole fathers/parents of some of the kids I coach. I told my wife the moment THAT happens to IMMEDIATELY stab me with a dull butter knife!!;)

I'm in an adult baseball and basketball league with my city. I play short stop, second base and third base most of the time. They have me playing short stop nearly all the time because I'm the best at turning the double play and I don't get many errors. Only problem is that I'm having a very bad year hitting. I finished the season with a batting average of only 202 and my last two games I was 7-8 all of them being singles though.

Most of the time I bat around 260ish but at least my defense greatly improved year over year. Onto the basket ball I play either guard or power forward depending on the team we are playing. If it means anything I'm far better at baseball compared to basketball lol.

Now last but not least I'm best at bowling and I'm the anchor on my 4 bowler mens only team with a current average this week of 208. This is a PBA Experience League with PBA oil patterns and not those easy house conditions in which my average is over 230 year in and year out. The last 3 weeks have been on the Chameleon oil pattern and over the last 3 weeks on this pattern my average has been around 215. I badly messed up on the Shark pattern with a three game set just barely over 450. I just kept switching balls but no matter what I did I just couldn't find the strength that specific day to throw it hard enough to get that ball down the 44 feet fast enough before it broke. It was splitsville all night for me on the Shark pattern.

My best oil pattern is the Scorpion pattern and we haven't yet bowled on this pattern this winter league. We are in second place right now and I'm about 99% sure our team will take first place after bowling the scorpion pattern. Once we take first seed we play for the quarter position round which is also the pay week for the quarter and the highest seeded team gets to pick the oil pattern they want to bowl on. My average on Scorpion is a whopping 241 last year so I'm excited right now because this year is a great money league.

I am a bit older, I suspect, than most posters here. I play golf, poorly. Only kind of tournaments I enter would be a best ball type deal. Really not good enough for actual stroke play, even with a handicap.

I used to bowl, just lost interest. Still play tennis when I can find a game, but I am slowing down such that I play the lob and volley "old guy tennis" which I really do not enjoy.

I play softball. I play the left-center position. Not to toot my own horn but I think I am pretty good. I usually bat on average .700, no joke. I have never hit a HR over the fence, just don't have the power and I don't even try, that's probably why I get some many hits, plus I have been playing for over 20 years now. Some of the guys I play with weren't even born when I started playing :haha and I am only 35.

Is the percentage of runners Salsa's thrown out stealing higher than a certain quarterback's completion percentage? :D

Actually, I still have a good arm because I still keep in regularly good shape and do alot of throwing...they are stealing MORE off my footwork. I don't have the footwork work I use to have at 24 , now that I am 44. I can teach it to a kid, but when the feet/legs can't do it anympre....they just can't do it anymore.

But the knees, arm and body are still functioning well....just at a slower pace.

...I am built for comfort now, NOT for speed....LOL!

My percentage was about, and has been about 50% for the last 5-7 years....

MSBL/MABL?

I do a lot of physical and athletic activities, but I would not consider most of them sports:

I am an avid snow skier. Ski every week during the ski season at a local resort 30 minutes from my house, Mt. High (which already opened unofficially). Believe it or not, Mt. High was supposed to host the very first winter winter Olympics in 1932. Ended up going to Lake Placid due to a late snow season here in Southern California.

I have also skied, here in SoCal several times at Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, Snow Valley, and Mt. Baldy, in the Sierras more often than I can count at Mammoth Mountain (which just opened for the season) and June Lake, and in CO, Breckenridge, Cooper Mountain, Vail, and Key Stone.

I am also Mountain bike, hike, and golf.

Nothing like skiing. Next weekend will begin my weekly skiing adventures.
