Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
I don't know how much of this has actually hit national news, but wildfires are getting bad around here the last couple of days. Some moron was actually seen intentionally setting one off yesterday morning, driving along and throwing out a burning bundle of newspapers. It is now so bad they are evacuating some small towns around Lake Keystone just west of Tulsa. A 6 mile by 13 mile area that has consumed 50,000 acres was thought to be contained this morning, but winds have picked up again and it is now considered out of control again. There are 13 different fires burning across Central and NE Oklahoma now. We are getting ash falling here from the fires near Lake Keystone and I'm 40-50 miles away. These firemen are unbelievable. They've been fighting various fires for several weeks now, but they've been fighting for 4-5 days straight in 110 plus temps. I handle claims for several departments and they told me so far there are 21 companies fighting fires in Creek County today, which is just west and south of Tulsa. These are some photos people have been sending into the various news outlets.

We are getting some hit and miss showers now, but they are NE of Tulsa, so not much help. We are about 8 inches below normal and they are saying it would take 15 inches to end the drought conditions.
