That's pretty interesting. This whole time I thought 129 got hit by a piece of satellite debris. Also did customers that used to have 1000.4 turbo hds with the 77 72 61 lnb have mexican service or is that a different 77

Different 77. Satellites can have different beams. There are satellites that have some transponders aimed at the US and some at Mexico or Caribbean. These aren't Dish or Directv satellites.
129 is still out there but Dish didn't own it. They rented it.

Dang that kinda sucks for 129. I do wish they had unencrypted satellite test channels still or at least make channel 101 dish101 and 119 scapes

Dish figured out they didn't need to use 129 anymore so not a big deal. 2 satellites on east and 2 on west. Makes it simple

I didn't think about that. It seems better too for no more 118 so you can use a 500 instead of a big heavy plus

118.7 had international channels that dish now streams. There weren't that many channels on there so dish decided no reason to pay someone else (since they didn't own it) to use it.

118 was essentially what Primestar was, a medium powered satellite that required a larger dish and different LNB than what DirecTV and Dish had when they launched with 18" antennas and high powered satellites at 101 and 119 that used the smaller and more modern LNBs.

Dish was just cobbling together whatever they could to make everything they could offer work.

He's looking for old PRIMESTAR sat dishes now, since you mentioned them.

My old Primestar sat dish pole from 95 was what I used for my first DISH satellite install and it lasted me till 2005 after Hurricane Rita came through and crushed the DISH 500 satellite dish into a C shape and the pole had rusted off at the ground level. I tried to take the crushed satellite dish down and the pole broke off at the ground. So I had to move to another place and I poured quickcrete and place a new fence pole in the hole to install my replacement dish I ordered from Dish Depot. That one lasted me till 2015 and it too broke off and I dug the quickcrete up and installed another pole and more quickcrete for my last pole. So far it is holding up but they don't usually last more than 10 years. Good thing I don't need satellite anymore.

I actually saw my first ever Primestar dish in in person! It was at a hotel inn down the street from me. I think there were 2 big dishes in the front

You were born in the wrong time. If only you had been born around in the 80s and you could of experienced the whole satellite thing when it was getting started you would of loved it. It used to be exciting to see all the channels they added and when we got our locals up on the satellite, we were living in high cotton! We use to be able to get east coast and west coast locals and like 5 superstations like the WB and UPN for like $8.00. Use to love buying my own satellite receivers when they came out and traded my old ones into DISH Depot.com for credit for new ones. You remind me of me when I was younger and liked to experiment with different dishes and switches and I did my own hopper install when it first came out in 2012. I also did my parents and my aunts satellite installs. I miss those times.
