Hello,
I need to know how to set up an OmegaSat dbs5700. I have plenty of experience with Dish and DirecTV installs but I have never done one of these. I found the Galaxy 25 97W sat I believe. My elevation is set at 53 and my azimuth is at 199 (202 mag). I have a strong signal with my meter but I cannot get any channels. What is the setup procedure for this sat box. Is there a check switch like on Dish network systems ?
Someone please help !!!
Thanks in advance.

What type of LNB are you using? You need to make sure you have the LNB type set correctly to be able to receive any channels.

You also must be on an active transponder. Check Lyngsat or TheList here for an active transponder. The name of the satellite at 97 W has changed, so make sure you look at 97 W on Lyngsat and not Gal 25.

You will be looking for quality over signal. Without quality, you will never scan any channels.

What kind and size dish?
What sort of LNB are you using? Standard? Universal? Circular?
Did you set the skew on the LNB (or if on the dish, that makes it confusing)

Here's what I get for aiming angles, so you're right on the money:

Code:

Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa, Florida 32547
                Latitude 30° 26.835'N Longitude 86° 37.268'W

Sat Name, Sat Lng, Az(t), Az(m), El, Skew
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
                             Telstar 5, 97.0W, 199.9, 202.1, 52.7, 17.0

Sorry 'bout the satellite name. It's an old satfinder program. :)

edit: Looks like Roxsat is selling them, and they do blind scan.
If you got this package from them, then the dish and LNB should be fine.

A strong signal on a "squealer" is a good start, now you just need to know where exactly you are...

Refer to this thread first as your refering to the same orbital slot:
http://www.satelliteguys.us/free-air-fta-discussion/156241-omegasat-dsb-5700-galaxy-25-ku.html

Only thing different in that thread is that I would use a different transponder to aim with.
Frequency: 11789
Polarity: Vertical
Symbol Rate: 28125

I don't see that you skewed you dish or lnb.
Skew is very important with linear Ku
Dish and DirecTV uses circular so you haven't really needed to worry about per-satellite skew. You've needed to skew the dish for LNB lineup but not for linear polarization.
It'd be nice to know what size of dish your trying to use and what lnb you're using.

Finally, :welcome
